Does anyone know where I can find some lowering springs for the 2012 5? I've checked with Eibach and H & R and they don't even have any in the development stage. Only place I found anything was through Autoexe but they want a fortune for them with the shipping cost.

Check if the oem struts are same p/n with the older models, if yes then you could use the ones for the older models. I think its the same but I may be wrong.

I checked with the dealer on the p/n and was told they are different numbers for the 2012. The p/n for pre 2010 years is the same. The suspension was changed for the 2012 model.

the part number could be different if they left the housing the same but changed the damping curves. i have a sneaking suspition (sp?) that the suspensions are interchangable between all model year mazda5's.

Lowered 2012 with H & R springs

I installed H & R springs for a 2010 and now have a slight popping and sort of binding noise coming from the front end on slow turns and at a stop when turning the steering wheel. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Here's a couple pics.

Lemski your car looks fantastic.

1) How much did it lower (inches?)

2) Did you keep the shock stock?

3) Did you figure out the popping/binding noise?

4) Can you give me some measurements from center of wheel to fender lip both front and back, and measurement of ground to bottom of front bumper?

Thanks

The H & R springs say the drop is 1.3 inches in the rear and 1.4 inches in the front. That's what I got when I measured when they were first installed. It might settle a little bit more. I kept the stock shocks/struts. They work fine. Yes the popping/binding noise is gone. It was a result of the installer having the top of the strut mount pop off and the ball bearings going everywhere. I helped him put it back together but we never re-lubed everything before putting them back together and the mount was binding instead of moving freely.

Great, thanks!

My only concern is scraping the nose on the driveway. I will measure ground to bumper height on my car Friday and compare notes with yours.

Thanks again for all your help.

So far on the 07-10 MY the lowest is when you use sportlines it can go as low as 2 in. but the prob is the back will sag because the rear springs are designed for the 3 and will sag lower because of the added weight at the back.
