2011 Mazda 2 1.5 performance chip

Ok guys, settle down.

There are rules here for a reason. To protect you, the members!

We all want goodies for our cars, and believe me, we want people like jmac to bring them to us. What we are asking is simple, and we have been discussing things behind the scenes. We are giving him the benifit of the doubt.

Now, if there was someone on here who posted a website and someone went there and paid and never got what they ordered, you bet there would be some anger. (not at all implying that jmac is like that, just giving an example)

Also, we cannot stop you from going, but just know it is at your own risk.

It's absolutely ridiculous that moderators on this forum are erasing URL's and denying users information. jmac36 isn't seeking out attention and starting threads to advertise himself. He doesn't have information in his signature (per the request of you, Nate) and is simply engaging in conversation and replying to questions. I don't quite know what the point would be of parenting the users of this forum. jmac36 posting his url at another user's request is absolutely no different then someone asking me for the url where I buy my products. Would I not be allowed to say, "YOU SHOULD ALL GO BUY ANTENNAS FROM NGPRACING.COM!!" because NGP doesn't hold vendor status?

The difference is that you arent making money from that website.

Freedom of information, sir. If jmac36 isn't specifically seeking out advertising space and conducting verbal contracts and sales through this forum, then posting his url at the request of a user isn't breaking the rules.

Actually, he is trying to sell on this forum, so it is breaking the rules. Every car forum i know has similar rules.

So, the data logging. Schedule time on a dyno, get 3 pulls done, send the datalogs from the pulls? Is that good enough?

You're just missing my point. Just go back and read this thread from the beginning... the only reason jmac36 got in on this conversation is that another user mentioned him specifically as a resource on this topic. He posted several times only in response to specific questions. He even mentioned early on that he's squeamish about giving out too much info because of his non-vendor status. It's just ridiculous to me that jmac36 posted a url in response to several requests, and it was immediately removed. You guys are really in a gray area between "trying to sell on this forum" and allowing users to make their own informed decision. He didn't post a link to a specific product, he's not organizing a group buy, and he's not soliciting "behind-the-scenes" PMs to exchange money for product. We have a right to see that URL... that's all I'm trying to say.

And as far as "every car forum i know has similar rules." I'm not talking about the rules themselves, I'm talking about the nazi-like enforcement with which Nate0123 uses his moderator status. I can't tell you how many for-sale threads I've seen him nit-pick on the rule where, "you must have a hand-written sign with your user name, date, and mazdas247.com url in EVERY PICTURE." I've never seen anything like it on any other forum.

Should you have rules? Yes.
Should they be enforced? Yes.

But like I said earlier, supplying a url after repeated requests is a far freaking cry from posting in the marketplace section and advertising specific product in an unsolicited fashion.

As far as this thread is concerned... you might as well lock it. Unless CorkSport, Protege Garage, or TDC have a chip tune in the works... any further information shared is going to be uselss.

really no need to dyno while you datalog, it can be done on the street if you like, but yess that is the proceedure...........(evil)

Here's a question for you... I'm coming from the VW world and with my GTI most of the "chip tuning" was done via software upload with different programs. Would there be an actual hardware swap on this car? I'm unfamiliar with how chip tunes work on a naturally aspirated car. Obviously it manages air and fuel differently, but is the tune done by reflashing the current ECU or actually replacing it with an aftermarket ECU.

I like how I start a post about performance chip and it goes into agueing about the rules. I'm here for actual info.

So say I get a short ram intake, new exhaust and headers, and a lighter pulley. How do I tune it to my car? Imreally interested in it. I mean you can't tune it remotely so how can it be tuned to match my car?

Also jmac have you driven the 2 after being reflashed?

I'm obviously not the authority on this, but I'd assume you'd want to get dyno info and data logs from a shop local to you, and then you could provide that to a chip tuner for a custom chip. If you look about 4-5 posts up on this page, jmac36 says you don't even need to be on a dyno... you just need to collect data logs on the street and send them in for a custom tuned chip.

So step one would be finding someone local to Lafayette that can do some data logging for you.

The AEM fi-c is good for turbo/sc applications but I'm not sure for n/a tuning.
Can it increase the advance??

this week I get the aem to install and adjust on my N / A mazda 2

I will tell you as I finish going

the only thing that can not set the timming because aem work only retarding the timing and not advancing the timing

yeah, the piggybacks really don't work too good on NA cars for that very reason. Besides, the little dudes like to rev, and a reflash is the only way to get the redline to what the rest of the world has

accurate, so q as will be used to administer the AFR while it is an alternative to reflash

but in the absence of a reflash the reach of my hand, I have to help me with the aem

hopefully soon be able to use a ecu reflash

Hey guys
I have a piggyback between the MAF, TPS and the ECU.
Gains is between 6-9kw depending on the setting.
Low down torque definately improves.
What I can teel you is that the ecu is very sensitive, if the chip is anything higher than the lowest setting you get a CEL!
But at the moment thats the best we can get!
I hated cutting my wires though

Can you just advance the timing overall and retard as needed with the F/IC?

Haha in my country its the best i could get at the price. Aftermarket parts for mazda here is non-existent and they charge taxes on a sticker. You can feel a difference but its nowhere near a flash.

Hey jmac PM, I think I defiantly want to talk about your stuff. But I cant wait. You say 10-18, what cars are getting 10, because when you said 18 that really excites me. I’m getting a SRI put in soon, would that effect any chip, piggyback, reflash (I really like the reflash idea)
