Hi i bought 2010 ms3 few days ago with 15 miles on it and i drove only to 42 miles and the clutch got burnt, im no manual pro but i know i didnt do it. in the dealership they said that because its a first time and the car only has 42 miles on it, theyll do it for free. but regularly that job costs about $2000 thats what they say. so im wondering what could go wrong and is that really the price to fix it.
thanks,
mike

thanks for replying, yea its not going into any gear like its on neutral, mazda service department said that car needs a new clutch.

sounds like a salesman or tech beat the s*** out of your car to me... check the front tread depth against the rear.

i did lol i took the stickers off the tires myself so i dont think its that, i really dont know what to think

that just doesn't add up. if you took the stickers off, how'd it get the first 15 miles? idk something seems very wrong here.

it has like plastic hubcaps when its new, they said the 15 miles was just transport milage so its brand new...

ya i think its like 3 times for the same issue, then the dealer or manufacture has an option on what to do.

You can destroy a clutch in under a mile. Either the sales team killed it or you burnt it up, either way if they are replacing under warranty ask for a rental and try to get a manual and get better

ya who knows, never have i attempted to destroy one. maybe its just something in the clutch assembly and they are replacing it all who knows..

wow 17 miles and your clutch is toast(notcool)

lucky for you though the dealer is going to fix it.

take it easy for the first few hundred miles on your new clutch.

yea i spoke with service department and they said that theyll do it for free this time as a courtesy of Koepel Mazda but if it happens again it will cost $2000 outa my pocket. i just wanna see the receipt i think for 2G's they gonna change the whole tranny box

I think you probably ride the clutch a little too much and it got way too hot and burned or maybe the clutch probably was defective from the manufacture, the only thing that matters is your getting your car repaired under warranty. Good luck with your car man.

Traditional clutches used to run forever. Seems weird that I am probably the senior of the group but manual transmissions used to be the norm. I have posted here regarding my 2010 hatch having clutch shudder but never got too many replys. Believe I am pretty in tune with what a normal clutch is suppose to feel like and I am still questioning the one I have. Backing out of my uphill drive feels lame. Never never felt what I am feeling in my new car. Love the car but am sure questioning the clutch. Dealer service rep said it felt normal. Sure does not feel normal to me when compared to all my previous manual transmissions. I will pursue on my first oil change and report back. Sounds like your dealer is a real winner. Can not figure out what the heck you could do to wipe out your clutch even when learning how to use. Clutches are not delicate so your dealer is blowing smoke. Make sure to press them for a technical explanation on what the damage is and what caused it. It definitely was not you and I would be more than a bit upset if my dealer inferred such. Go get em..........

I know someone who had purchased a used car from a dealer who happened to be his neighbor. We actually saw the clutch get replaced before he bought it. The day he got it I was driving behind him as he rode around learning to drive stick. Light turned green and he didn't move. He managed to burn a brand new clutch in 1 day. So yes it is possible to screw the clutch that quick. Is this your first manual car? If it is it might help to have someone more experienced judge you to be safe. It could be the dealerships fault or it could be other issues with the car, but if you could be at fault, better safe then sorry for the future.
