2010 Mazdaspeed 3 Pics and info

^^

Yeah but they're actually identical to the current RX-8 wheels. They're probably the same ones.

I like the styling of the 2010 models. I saw them in person today. Myself I'm interested in the new Speed3. However considering that the other 2010 3's gained weight the Speed 3 should also be heavier, unless they increase the HP significantly the 2010's will probably be just as quick as the old model. If the HP stay the same might even be a a little slower, lets' hope not.

Somtimes you need to take a step back to take a step forward

260 hp, 280 torque..

0-60 in 6.1

FWD

great job mazda, made the car uglier, heavier, didnt improve any performance, way to compete!!!

More structural rigidity means more weight but it also may mean plans to put a larger engine in the car in the coming years. Think about it as a path to cost reduction fueling the ability to put a better drivetrain in a world-class car. It's no difference than what they did back in 2004 when they took a high end chassis (meant for Volvo) and built the original 3. Many manufacturers would have used a lackluster chassis because it was an "economy car" and ended up with a POS when they threw more power in it. Mazda did the right thing and spent money on the right chassis, the right interior and then added the DISI engine. Once they realize a ROI on the new chassis and upscale interior and get the manufacturing and parts supplies cheaper, then they may have the budget to throw a bigger engine with AWD in that baby.

As an example imagine what would have happened if Mazda decided to throw the DISI engine and the MS3 suspension in a less rigid chassis. It would have ripped that lightweight carcass apart and since you didn't have a solid structure on which to bolt the better suspension the thing would have flexed and felt horrible around the curves.

Try to think long-term before claiming that Mazda blew it. Mazda is smart. They haven't really made bad plays lately. Especially long-term.

so there stepping backwards to step forwards?

maybe makes sense, but i dont see the future, i just see the present,a nd right now, the present for the mazdaspeed 3 is terrible.

So I logged onto the Mazda Dealer Network today at work cause I was curious too see if we would have any 2010 speed3's incoming and to my surprise we do but they are listed as "scheduled" which means they haven't been built and it will be 4-5 months before they arrive in dealerships!

Anyways thought I would provide everyone out there with the colors & options!

Velocity Red Mica
Celestial Blue Mica
Liquid Silver Metallic
Black Mica

all w/ Black/red interiors

and their is only one option group:

Technology Package - which includes Push-button start, MID(Navigation), Sirius, and Perimeter alarm.

There was no GT mentioned anywhere only Sport models. No pricing yet, it just said 0.00 lol

I don't think they stepped backwards. They made a good looking car into a great looking car. They made an interior that was one step ahead of the competition, now two steps ahead. The improvements to the suspension and structure of the vehicle will take the handling up another level. And lastly the new gearing, smoother power delivery system, and awesome drag coefficient will take a couple ticks off the 1/4 mile time. No, it's not 300 HP and 1/2 sec. quicker, but I fail to see where they went backwards.

I hear a lot of people talking about the drag coeffiecent being improved but it's actually .1 worse than the first gen. Current speed=0.31, 2010=0.32. Only the 2010 sedans drag improved(0.27 I believe from 0.29). The regular HB is the same as the first gen though just not the speed. But I agree they are not moving backwards, but I think for some people it's too far forward in terms of styling.

Dude... Thats Not Even The Speed Version... Thats Just The Mazda3... The Speed 3 Is Expected To Come With Dual Exhausts Ind Different Rims

I think it's ugly, and why don't they make a sedan version of the speed? not that it would look any better.

Maybe if you can do something with the grill it will be all right

Something just hit me today. For some unknown reason, I think I'm gunna love the 2010 speed 3. I think it's one of those: It's so ugly it's cute things.

Better re-check your numbers. it was right in the Mazda press release for the 2010 Mazda 3 that the drag coeffiecent dropped on ALL models. It's now .29 on the sedan and .30 on the hatch. The Speed 3 specs haven't been released yet, but there will be drop there as well. So that's why everyone is talking about it becasue it's straight out of the press release from the LA autoshow.

The hatch is .31 according to Mazdausa.com but sorry the sedan is .29 anyways I was just saying that whether its .1 better or not it's not going to make that much change performance wise or gas mileage, it's something but not a lot. The main thing is that the air flows more efficiently into the engine bay. IMO marginally better airflow is not worth sacrificing styling..I'm sure it won't be hard to make it look better with some mods though.

i went to windsor mazda in ontario and asked them what the differences were and they said the 2010 spped 3 has 300hp if thats true i guess im waiting for the 2010.

Gas mileage ratings on the 2.0L sedan in Canada went from 46 hwy/34 city to 48 hwy/35 city (this is Canada so that's Imperial gallons) with no changes to the drivetrain, that's all credited to the improvement in drag coefficient.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that with the small improvement CD, the different gearing in the tranny, and the improved power delivery, I expect it will be a couple ticks quicker down the strip. Nothing life changing, but improved none the less. Where I think the big change will be is daily driveability. Power delivery will be smoother and I think performance will be more consistent in hot and cold weather.

I've read in a couple of reviews of the new 3 that the 6 speed gearbox has been improved. That's good news. Power wise it should make a couple of more HP's to compensate for the added weight. I'm guessing around 5-7 HP's more.
