2010 CX9 Not That Bad

But 30+hp (new Mustang 3.7L Duratec V6) increase is not enough to make me abandon my 2 year-old CX9.
80+hp (3.5L EcoBoost) will likely do the trick for me.

Thanks! And yeah, front plates kinda suck... but they're mandatory, and risking a ticket isn't worth the minor cosmetic annoyance for me.

congrats on the ride. i got my ms3 from joe myers as well. but i stopped them before drilling holes in my bumper for the front plate. thats a no no for me. but yea hope you like the car

Having also looked at the 2010s in person, I like all of the changes. Mazda didn't change anything unless they improved it.

Rear View Mirrors. MUCH more stylish. More functional now, too, with BSM, Defrosting, and Auto Dimming adjustment available.

Do the exterior mirrors have auto dimming option in the 2010 CX9 (just like the 2009 Mazda6)?

No auto dim on exteriors, which is too bad. Other big lack of improvement would be no push-button start, which is sad since the 6 has that as well.

Well, instead of the push button start it has a turning knob but you still don't need the key to be inserted to start it (on the GT). Personally, we don't have any preference of one over the other between the knob and the button. The "key" thing is the keyless start which the CX9 has and we absolutely love the feature. After getting used to that feature, having to use a physical key to start the car seems so out-dated and don't see the point of it at all. IMO this feature should be available on all cars, at least as an option, and I think soon it will be.

Wonder why they didn't include the auto-dimming feature for the exterior mirrors like the Mazda6, I have felt the need for this on occasions when driving in the night - the mirrors in the CX9 have no anti-glare (I remember seeing MDX or TL or both have a blue tinge which helps) and so at night the reflection from the exterior mirrors of other car/SUV's headlights is sometimes quite distracting.

Definitely agree that not having to fish keys out is a great benefit, just thought it would be nice to have that satisfying push to start feature as well. I know, be happy with what we have.

Has anyone confirmed the auto dim? The 2010 Manual says the outside mirrors dim with the auto dim interior mirror:

"Auto-dimming mirror
The auto-dimming mirror automatically
reduces glare of headlights from cars at
the rear when the ignition is switched ON.
The door mirrors also adjust in
conjunction with the interior rear view
mirror"

I've only driven it twice at night, and didn't think I noticed any glare reduction. Will pay more attention the next time around.
