I am in the process of buying a cx-9 and have one at a dealer that is a 2010 AWD Touring white/charcoal with Bose/power lift gate/ rear camera with 23k miles going for $24,700 before tax and registration. In addition, I am negotiating with another dealer for a new 2012 silver/black leather AWD touring with Bose/lift gate and backup camera( same specs as the used) for $28,903 also before tax. Any thought as to whether the newer more expensive one is the better option long term regarding value and resale?? Or just go with the used one which is in great shape? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Hoping to make a decision by Monday dec24th.

Get the new one. No telling what the history of the used one is (lease return, fleet/rental return, trade-in, etc.). Dealerships can polish a turd pretty easy. Also, there is some markup in their used vehicle sales, that normally wouldn't be there for the same exact car being sold by a private party. Personally, I would never buy a used car from a dealership. Every used vehicle I have bought was from an individual. You can learn a lot about the car, and how well it was cared for (or not), just by listening to the owner talk about it. A dealership can't tell you a thing about a used car on their lot, except "it passed all our inspections and is immaculate".

Also, FWIW, our black FWD 2011 CX-9 Touring with bose/liftgate/rear camera, with sand/tan leather has 11,500 miles on it. Our payoff is a few hundred less than that used one you are looking at, and I'd sell it for payoff all day long :) Not AWD, but a year newer with 11.5k fewer miles for the same price as that 2010 you are looking at.

Usually buying a vehicle 3 or so years old is a better deal financially since a lot of depriciation occurs in the first few years, but for $4200 difference I would really consider the new one if it isn't a strain financially.
