2010 Cx-9 Touring vs GT differences?

Hi All,

I have 2 options (white cx-9 touring with bose/moonroof/4.3 screen and blue 2010 cx-9GT with Nav) at about the same price and cant find all the itsy bitsy differences 2010 touring vs GT will have.
Problem is white is available right now and blue is coming in 3 days later. White might not be available till then. i am trying to make a rational choice here by comparing even all the small stuff - im a comfort creature junkie
so far here's what i have

same features:

1. Leather
2. Sunroof/Bose system/backup (yes the GT has nav with bigger screen - dont care about nav/bigger screen)
3. auto dimming rearview
4. heated side mirrors (can anyone confirm?)
5. power lift gate

GT will have these extras

1. Fogs/HID lamps (can get after market in touring - no biggie)
2. auto headlamps (any solution for touring?)
3. integrated turn lamps in side mirrors (dont care)
4. rain sensing wipers
anything else?

Would love to get as much details as possible. Thanks

The main differences:
GT - 20" wheels, 50 profile tires, fog lights, HID power adjustable headlights, l.e.d. turn signals in side mirrors, painted applique with chrome finisher on liftgate, blue rings around guages
Touring - 18" wheels, larger tires, no fog lights, halogen headlights, no turn sigs in the mirrors, painted applique on rear gate w/no chrome finisher, no blue rings on guages.

Anyone remember any other diff's?

If the price difference is small, the rational choice is the GT IMHO. I think the 20" tires ride/handle better, but everyone is different. The best thing to do is to drive them both and see how you feel driving each one.

Other GT goodies:
1. Blind spot monitoring system, which I actually find surprisingly useful
2. Electroluminescent gauges
3. Blue "mood lighting" in overhead center console
4. Wood-grain trim on center console and doors (Touring has silver, I think)

If the price is similar, I'd get the GT. Also, aftermarket HID's are not as good as OEM, in my opinion.

07 did not have BSM, and on the GT's in 08, it was an add-on option. Not sure what year BSM became standard on GT, or if it is standard?

It is standard on the 2010 GT, I have a GT with no other options and it has the blind spot monitor.

BSM was an option on early 2008 models until around 11/2007 (only a few months) when Mazda decided to
make it an "mandatory option". i.e. all 2008 GT came with this option if built after said time.
This is part of "running change" common to Mazda.

Chrome door handles; smart key (depending on packages) [I'm looking @ '12 list, so I might not have these correct for '10].

But--if you can get a GT for "about the same" as the Touring, I think you have to go for the GT. It begs the question--aren't you overpaying for the Touring if you can get a GT for about the same price?

my personal opinion is the 20" rims handle worse. i feel the bumps more with the lower profile tires. keep in mind too that replacements down the road are likely to cost a bit more than a more standard 18" tire.

I thought the 20" rims made the ride harsh too, so I went for the Touring w/the 18"

Blind spot monitoring was NOT standard with the GT in 2010 - it was a $200 option. That being said, I didn't see any GTs on the lot without it, but it was an extra $200 on the window sticker.

Go with the GT if the price is not big difference take the extra option. Do they both have Keyless entry? If not take the GT. Auto lights, xenons and BSM is standard for 2010 GT.

For that, you have to talk to the dealer you purchase from.
There is a good chance that they will take that deal since 20" is more popular.
People pay $$$ to upgrade to 20" from 18".

I heard at least once that someone successfully asked the dealer to trade the 20" wheel/tire package
for the 18". Possibility is there. Dealer has nothing to lose.
Make it a contingency for buying the CX9.

well since i started the thread...i guess obligated to add that i did end up buying a 2009 Cx-9 GT.....i feel the 20" makes the suv feel a little taller but at the end of the day it really came down to the tires on those 20" rims that made all the difference..i rode used ones with dunlop, bridgestone and the one i bought had toyo on them...toyo were far quiter than anything....also since i am a creature comfort junkie...the GT with BSM/bose/power liftgate were nice additions...however the nav screen as a backup camera is pretty much useless specially in the daytime since it washes out....nav isn't the best either..i am planning to replace those....but overall i am very happy with it...it is quieter than my 2002 MDX.
