2010 clutch shudder

New 6 speed hatch sounds and feels like it is shuddering in 1st and reverse. Almost seems like it is high geared in both 1st and reverse and that is causing it to shudder and make an unusual clutch sound to boot. Took it to dealer and younger service rep said not unusual. I have not driven any sticks for a number of years but this was not normal 20 years ago with stick shifts. Anyone else experiencing the same on their 2010 or more recent models. Love the car but would like to know if this needs correcting or what the heck is causing the shudder. I can accept normal but would like to know the cause. Thanks all.......

don't know if this helps, but i have experienced the shudder effect in my '03 P5 that i bought brand new. only occasionally, and only on the first couple accelerations after start up. never an issue after it warmed up. even experienced it a few times in my MSP. never had it checked out, but at least you know you are not alone!

bring it to the dealer.(wrc)

Discussed with dealer service mgr who recognized the shudder. He stated that mazda clutches are unique and the shudder is probably being caused by torque in the system. I will be keeping an eye on it and reporting back if there is a change. Appears that there may be less shudder after 2K miles than when new.

Ditto here. New 2010 Mazda 6 speed hatch with clutch shudder. Dealer admits it and says that it is "normal". I'm not so sure. I've have owned vehicles with clutches for over 25 years. The only other shudder I had was when I replace the clutch and messed it up.

Clutch shudder happens because the clutch is grabbing on to the flywheel too well rather than slipping. Not really an issue. I prefer it this way rather than having a softer clutch and having to replace it earlier.

2010 Mazda 6 speed?

It was a typo which produced improper grammar.
Should have been "2010 Mazda 3, 6 speed"
Thanks for your replies.
