2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Revealed

Yes it is a hyundai. They are good now thats why my family has 3 hyundai/kia products, which have all been great with very minimal problems.

(sssh) I heard the same about mid-size sedans (all car brands). It was found that all of them had 4 doors, regular size trunk, seating for 5 and a front engine, among other striking similarities ;)

So true, I think the one vehicle that is out there where no other car or truck looks like it is........ wait for it......

You either love em or hate em. Of course I loveem!(shocked) I point it in a direction and it goes.

what's the new Santa Fe a copy of? Can't think of anything off the top of my head...

It looks a lot like the redesigned Subaru Tribeca to me, but I'm not sure which came first. Maybe a bit of the new RAV-4, too. What do all of these designs have in common? They're all boring, shapeless jellybeans on steroids. Hard to say if anyone copied, or if they all managed to dream up "boring" all by themselves.

You're right... does look a lot like the (new) Tribeca, but I'm fairly certain the redesigned Santa Fe was out first. Doesn't mean that maybe they didn't dabble into some subi design sketches or something. It does remind me of the rav4, but I think the Hyundai is much better looking. For what it is, I think its styling beats out the rest of the segment by far, including the new cr-v. Still, I will concede they all are a little boring and bland as you put it yourself. If I was shopping in the segment however, Hyundai would be my first stop...

Hyundai Genesis sedan revealed

At a super-secret special test drive preview for the Korean media, Hyundai Motor Co. unveiled the sports sedan Genesis a full month prior to what was supposed to be the "official" unveil at the Detroit Auto Show and a full month after they showed off the coupe concept version at the LA Auto Show. The car features a rear wheel drive architecture and the new Tau V8 engine which will deliver 375 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai's V6 Lambda engines will also be offered in 3.3- and 3.8-liter editions.

They've really turned it around over there at Hyundai...why can't American car-makers do the same?

Because we can't get away with paying our workers 2 bucks an hr to keep the cost down!

Really, the Labor Unions have killed our auto makers. The auto makers have to pay the employees way to much and that makes the cost of the cars to high to sell. So to keep the cost down they have to build keep s*** or they wouldn't make a profit.

I don't think a V8 is necessary when they could achieve 300hp from a V6 and keep the nose a little lighter. If a V8 is even a slight consideration, they should scrap that idea in a world where gas is so expensive. V6, 6-speed and RWD will make for a sweet ride.

Yes, they said 300+hp V6. The turbo 4 would probably be a better handler due to the reduced weight, and, with a little tuning, capable of putting out as much hp. This could get interesting.

Not bad at all. Hyundai needs to get their own design style instead of copying everyone else.

Yeah..I see a LOT of Lexus with a little Infiniti thrown in to come up with that design. Is it big enough to compete with the current LS? It looks like it was aimed squarely at the Infiniti Q.

I think this question:

is partly answered by:
Not bad at all. Hyundai needs to get their own design style instead of copying everyone else.

Apart from the cost of manufacturing (the production labor), the innovative design teams (and their original designs) also cost a lot of money. I'm sure that if Hyundai had a BMW/Audi/Porsche design team instead their final cost per car would be more expensive. Taking an original design and just modify it is much cheaper than creating one.

Again, with most of the Hyundai vehicles I see the copycat perfume trend: "If you like the $55 CalvinKlein Obsession cologne, you will like our $15 CorryKluin Passion" :D. "It is not the same, but similar" type thing. I guess they will get better eventually (quality is getting there), but it will take time.
