So i made a custom sri and it works fine. Drove it for 2 hours nothing no cel. Than i went to exhuast shop to take out my 2 resonators after cat. It sounds very good but, after driving my CEL came on. What could be causing this? SRI or exhaust? I work at a shop and our scanner can not read the car. I asked the mechanic and he said becaus it uses a CAN? wtf s that? So i reset my battery last night and CEL went away. Has anyonbe came cross this problem? The car runs fine. Strong and faster than before. No problems at all.

My car has 760 miles.

Hard to say what the problem is without the code, but it would be the SRI causing the problem, not the removed resonators. If you didn't reset the ECU after the intitial install of the SRI then that could have caused a CEL. Since you just did that I would wait to see if it comes back on, and if it doesn't your good. If it does your car is probably running lean due to an SRI that was not designed by an engineer. By the way it could take several hundred miles before your car triggers the CEL, so its not wierd that the CEL didn't come on for a couple of hours. Good luck and if the CEL comes back on tweak the design of the SRI, is the MAF housing the proper size.

you are right. I reset my ecu and has not came on since than. And about the MAF. I just drilled a hole in the pipe and put the maf in and poxy around it. It is sealed very good and in the right place. I know is very stuiped not getting the adaptor but i realy wanted a sri and did not have the money for $200 cobb. But i think it was just because i did not reset my ecu. When i changed my intake i wen to a exhaust shop and got the exhaust done. After driving about 50 miles it came on. But now I drove abut 120 miles and nothing yet. So far so good. Car running better than new. But the thing is, I'm still running rich as stock. my muffler is always been black since the car was new. How can i lean it out a little to get more power?

ooo...the custom SRI could definitely be your problem. if it doesn't deliver stock AFR, you may trip a CEL. you do not want to run lean if you want to avoid CELs. running lean is not really a good thing with turbos, since the reason turbocharged cars run rich in the first place is to protect the engine from getting demolished...^^;

Running rich or incomplete combustion?

I've found that by running 89 octane vs 91 octane that the black buildup has gone away. Its most likely incomplete combustion. If that is in fact the issue you will get more power out of the lower octane fuel anyways.

You drive an MS3 and you cannot afford a 200$ intake? Me confuzed....

You can even pick up a used intake for about 100-130$ and be safe.

As far as car running rich, thats how they all are on stock tune. Wanna change that? Get a tune....but then I donno if you can afford that either :-p

Dang.............! why can't we all just get along? (dark)
