2008 CX-9 Brake Rotor replacement

Magiccat, see you posted here. Should have looked before I wrote my last post. Good luck and post if you need help.

Warranty on rotors is 1yr/12k miles? Hmm... I guess they don't consider them to be located between the bumpers... I have a 2006 Pontiac Torrent and my dealer gladly replaced my warped front rotors at 23k miles (and I didn't even buy that car from them). Granted, it's not Mazda, but it shouldn't really matter... I guess it just depends on the dealership.

Hello,

My name is Carlos and I own a 2007 Mazda CX-7. I tried to remove the rotor yesterday but I was not able to. How did you remove the rotor? Also, can you email me the How to? Please email it to car_mercado@hotmail.com

Thanks,

Carlos

Hi can you please send me the file to nyisles_99@yahoo.com. In addition, the link where you purchased the equipment from. One final question, how many miles should the stock pads last, normal driving conditions. Ty so much!

Is there a big difference between the 9 and 7 regarding brakes and rotors? The 9 requires you to use a small screw driver to back the wheel off that controls parking brake tention (you can see the wheel if you rotate the rotor until it shows up in that circular hole in the rotor base), and then the removal of one or two screws that hold the rotor on during factory installation. After that a large mallet can be used to unseat the rotor and its done.

I am just wondering the centrics are very cheap in price. Are they better than the other ones that are listed that are more expensive? also are they better than the original factory rotors which go for about 80 bucks a piece.

sfollenius.

From Centric site:

Brake Discs Premium Rotor Front CE 120.45080
Brake Discs Premium Rotor Rear CE120.45079

As per your site link, this mean premium. I have these and they hold up well to 80-90 MPH driving here with fast stops, not to mention water puddles. No warping/chatter. I do not have a manual or files, but can describe in detail how to change front and back rotors and pads, to include lube areas.

Thanks! I guess it really isn't much different from my other vehicles. My Toyota rotors are held on by by the tire no additional screws, my BMW 3 series had a screw which sounds like what you describes on these rotors. I think I can handle it, I will just give it a shot!

Centric are wayyyyyy better than the factory rotors. As far as $80 per rotor, I had a dealership quote me $110 for rear ones. As far as Centrics quality, they are up there with most of the best, but I am sure you could find better. Centric does make a premium rotor that is cryogenically cooled or some crap like that, but you want to balance quality with cost. I can't say anything bad about the rotors and many American SRT owners are using them for their outstanding properties that eliminate brake fade and run-out. Just my opinion.

So the rotors that they have on that website for 28 bucks are they good? if so i am going to get all four for my cx9.

What is wrong with OE rotors?
If they can stop a 4550lbs CX9 at 116ft from 60-0mph, I would say that ain't bad at all.
Cost? Noises? Durability? or what?
How is Centric better? That is what I would like to know.

I have 38K on my OE rotors. It won't be too early to survey for replacements.

I have those rotors on my 03 Honda CR-V AWD and have put 15,000 miles on them, no problems, I used quality ceramic pads with them Akenobo or something like that. I had problems with warping on my factory rotors on the CR-V, not sure if the same will hold true on the CX-9 though.

I just replaced my front rotors/pads on my 2007 CX9 GT AWD 43k miles...The car has a HORRIBLE wobble when braking....a few issues we ran into while replacing....
1. The 2 screws holding the rotors on were completely rusted and had to be drilled out (they dont really serve any purpose as the wheel will hold the rotors on
2. The current rotors were rusted so bad on the backside we had to use a hammer to get them off, the brake pads were destroyed on the backside...I just bought the car and the previous owner didn't do anything.

I've only driven 5 miles on them so they may need a little more braking in, but the problem has not been solved...still getting a horrible wobble...I'm thinking the back two will need to be replaced too. I bought the premium ones that came with free pads from:

The rotors that you purchased according to the website are not centric rotors. Also the free pads that they include are semi-metalic. Our vehicles use ceramic type pads. What brand rotors are these? they are also more expensive than the centric rotors i saw on the other website. They are 160 for two rotors, where as the other site had two centric rotors for about 58 dollars.

The price on that website if for a pair of rotors, not 1 and I should have ordered the ceramic pads, but the semi-metallic will work, just not as great. The rotors seem to be pretty solid and made very nicely...The mechanic who helped me install them said they were really nice.
