It has 48850 km and the ATF looks black and smells burnt. Is that normal?

Is it normal to have the atf looking black with a smell at 48500 km. Is this car safe to purchase and will a atf flush do the trick. Thanks

50,000 km is like 30,000 miles. If you have any other color ATF than bright pink, someone has been trying to climb Mt Mckinley with it - straight up, no switchbacks! I have had 170,000 mile cars with pink fluid. I would NOT touch that car unless you are saving so much on the deal you can afford to buy a new tranny.

Thanks , thats what I thought, I'll keep on driving my Windstar with 122000 km with pink atf. I'll keep my eyes open for a standard.
