2007 Mazda3 Luxury Package A/C

Anyone know if the a/c is constanly on if you use the auto temp with the auto climate control? The a/c light is always on if I choose to have the auto on even if it is cold outside. I really don't want the a/c running constantly if there is no need for it. Hope someone knows something about this. Thanks.

I believe so. If the A/C light is on then the A/C is on (compressor running). If you want it in auto mode but with the A/C off, just hit Auto and then hit the A/C button. It will still control the fan output and change the air flow (head, feet, def., etc) but it just won't be able to cool the car if the set temp is below the ambient temp.
