Hi Everyone,

My girlfriend wants her iPhone/iPod to play on her OEM head-unit in her 2006 Mazda 3 Hatchback.

She has to be able to control the iPod from the OEM head-unit and the steering wheel. I also want the song information to display on the OEM head-unit.

I was searching around the forum, and I came across these following 3 products.

What are you guys using? What works? I do not want to do this twice.

- AXXESS ipod interface

- DICE w/ Text

- Neo Prolink w/ Text

Thanks for the help.

Here are some pics of her head unit

fYI i would look into Grom Audio. I haven't instaleld their bluetooth/ipod unit yet, But i decided to go with them because they give software updates for the Unit and seem decent at giving feedback. i've read that Dice has had a lot of problems from all the things i've seen on the forums. The grom unit doesn't have text yet. But they said SAT connection software update will hit in about 1-2 months. I wouldn't hold my breath. but yeah u should look at gromaudio.com Plenty of install instructions for them too. I'm just having trouble figuring out how to rout a bluetooth mic.

I phoned Mazda today, and they said they had an OEM iPod connector for the OEM head unit that displays the track name etc.

$189 CDN.

I would steer clear of the DICE and Prolink as they've received a lot of complaints from users over the years. Far more than some other modules. The Axxess would work fine for you.

The OEM module should work for you and display the info. on the LCD. I believe you just need to tap the CAN +/- wires on the LCD screen.

I just installed the Grom V3 with iPod/iPhone kit and Bluetooth Dongle in my '07 Mazda 3. At first I had some problems, but I flashed the firmware again tonight and things seem to be working better. I would've liked text display, but Bluetooth audio was a better choice. Now my phone doesn't have to come out of my pocket. And I seem to be able to plug my iPhone into the dock connector and listen to audio via Bluetooth without any interference.

My car had a factory AUX connector in the center console. This was connected to the back of the head unit in the CD port. I had to remove this to connect the Grom unit. Ideally, I would like the Grom iPod dock connector to come out of this AUX hole, but that would require some mods to the plastic.

I've temporarily routed the microphone from behind the head unit, behind the steering wheel column, under the gauges, and clipped it into a gap between the gauge cluster plastic and the dash near the vents. Not a long term solution, but a quick fix until winter is over!
