No, it's the newest version of the EcoTech. It's 2.4L with upgraded sensors, etc.tekkie said:its still a GM, its still a POSthe 05 does not look to bad but the 06 is uggggggggggly and those rims are beyond hidious
hmm 2.4 I wonder if they are using the same bad engine as the 95+ sunfires - cavs you know the one that the waterpump sucks on, I had one had the thing go bad twice
I would never buy another GM in my life after owning 3 of them, evar

Mallard said:Actually, I would tend to think just the opposite. On track the Ion Redline could out-handle an SRT-4 but would get muscled on the straights. I haven't seen any direct comparo's with the Cobalt, but they're the same basic car. Even though they don't have an independant rear suspension they handle quite well, and the everyday driver that's not driving road courses on the weekend would never notice the difference. The average driver cares more about HP in their daily driving. Cobalts have even won a few Grand Am Cup races -- something our MSP's could never acheive.
The Cobalt SS has a forged bottom end and can take a lot more boost. GM has already started coming out with "stage" kits with Stage II goot for about 265 HP.
With the Cobalt SS you're getting a nice looking car, with an ok interior, a solid engine that's easily upgradeable, and a decent suspension.
edit: All my above comments go for the Supercharged SS versions.
