Petit Le Mans
September 29 - October 1, 2005
The American Le Mans Series returns home for the second time during the 2005 season with the eight running of the Petit Le Mans. This will be the second year that Chevrolet has sponsored the event, which lasts 1000-miles or 10 hours which ever comes first. This is the only race on the schedule that is based on distance as drivers and teams put themselves through one of the world's great endurance races. Lasting into the night, drivers must navigate the 2.54-mile 12-turn road course in the darkness traveling at speeds of over 200 mph with only their wits and headlights to guide them. This is something that you gotta see!

Who's up for a Mazda meet there?

im going definately saturday with my dad, its like our big thing together every year. I want to go fri b/c thats when there are some cool races, but I have a friday class now.

Do you think most folks would be there for both days? I don't know if I can convince hubby (non-car enthusiast, though he loves his P5) to go for two days - probably just one out of the two. If you've never been, it is really an exciting race to watch - especially the night-time driving!

I'll be there from Thursday morning to Sunday morning. I plan on attending with my brother, a couple of friends, and a couple of guys from here.

The 10 hour race starts at noon on Saturday. Friday will hold various venues including Speed World Challenge, Mazda Star Racing (rotary powered open wheel cars), etc. Check out www.roadatlanta.com for the full schedule.

im in. how much is it for the speed world challenge? i'll go to races on saturday too. i like the events they hold up. i haven't followed it much this year though, but the protege was doing good like 2 years ago. i think they have the blue and white mazda6 now.

There's still other teams using the protege.. Tri-point is the the only team to upgrade to the 6 that I've seen recently.

stumbled accross this thread...

i was planning to be at Deals Gap on this weekend, but no one else in my group is confirmed, and don't want to be there waiting for a bunch of 'maybes' to possibly show up..

If you guys are doing this, I'd love to meet up with you guys there. If someone is organizing it, please PM me.

Actually the circuit city team has upgraded to the 6 and i cant remember the team but the green and white cars (one of the drivers is espenlaub) they went to the 6 also some of the lower end teams still run the protege but unfortunatly they basically maxed out the chassis and found the 6 is better

I have a friend from work who thinks he (and his wife & a few friends) can go on Saturday. He's not definite, but it's a good solid maybe...

So what's the scoop? I'm going to go on Saturday, but probably won't get there until lunchtime. Are folks meeting up anywhere or have a specific place to park? Maybe someone who is going can pm me their cell phone number and I can jingle them when I get there.

I'll be there the entire time. I'll be spending most of my time on specator hill at turn 5 and camping in the wooded area thereabouts. Keep an eye out for a mid 90's blue Suburban.
