2003 Tiburon GT?

My friend in north cali just bought a 2003 tib gt....aith 17000miles for about 17000....kinda high if you ask me, but anyway anyone know much about this car? I know turbo or supercharge is outta the question with that alumin. block but anything he should watch out for?

It's poop. 180 hp from like 2.7 liters, gay! I think it's the same motor that was in the Hyundai SUV.

My cousin owns a 00 elantra so he knows mad about them, the v6 engine is a piece of s*** the v4 is a lot better it's like a built proof block they have gotten like 500hp out of those engines in korea. They do sell turbo's for those cars here are the sites that you can tell your friend to go on.

they can't handle a lot of boost or anything beyond 250hp because after that everything starts to go boom. That's why apexi hooked-up the v4 tiburon not the v6 because they knew that they could get more power out of the v4 than v6.

i don't think hyundai's or any other motor manufacture have V4s...there's inline-4s not V4s tho...

i drove it a lot while i was in Florida
it is a nice car for the money
yes it is a hyundai no matter which way you look at it but i dont think that people should knock it until they have driven one just my opinion though

i didnt even look at hyndia when i got my speed...figured they were crap, but man, the santa fe i had for a few weeks while my car was in the shop was nice, it just felt solid and stable..i waz very impressed.

the new tiburon is a good lookin car, and kitted...wow!!! looks super slick.

he got a auto v6.

But thats funny, the 4 can make more power...kick ass.

I know this thread is pretty old but I stumbled across it while browsing around... in any case... just about everything I read in this post is CRAP. I am not going to go into it word for word because there is too much crap. So I will let pictures and videos speak for themselves.

2003 Hyundai Tiburon V6 AUTOMATIC!!! with 40,000 miles on it.
Currently produces 272 Wheel HP with STOCK internals, STOCK trans.
Power is produced by a massive Vortec V5 G trim supercharger running only 6lbs of boost in to a completely stock motor. Headers and catback let the air out. There is nothing else done to the car.

Given the drivetrain loss in this AUTO... you can estimate the crank HP to be well into the 300's.

Also, there is another auto running a roots style blower @15 psi with a 35 shot of spray doing the 1/4 in the high 12's with over 312 whp.
The 6 speeds with the vortec at 6psi are making over 312 also... so what's the deal with all these comments that the car isn't capable?

I've seen a 9 second Dodge Reliant. That doesnt make the car any less of a piece of s***. The owner just put way too much money into it, lol. Although beating the snot out of an 800 hp Supra in a k-body would feel pretty damn good.

ok so first you guys say they suck because of the stock HP.
Then they suck because the supercharger only gives 50hp??
Then they suck because they can't handle FI.
Then they suck because they are too expensive..

So, I have proven all of this wrong.
1. My supercharger: pre install benchmark WHP 152 Post install WHP 272. So that's what... a 120 WHP inrease so that's out.
2. I am running 6psi. Others are running 15psi.. All on STOCK internals. So the can't handle FI is out.
3. Expensive? MSRP for an 04 is 18739 minus a 2000 dollar manufacturer rebate puts us at 16739. Too expensive? Brand new now... 10 year 100K warranty. Not fast enough right. Ok, so invest in some headers (300$), then the blower (4000$). That's it. So for 21039$ you will have nearly 300 hp at the wheels. Install it for another 1000 and your done. Show me another car where for 22,000 you will have 300 HP at the wheels? NEW, not used.

So after all this... and being proven wrong with every complaint... now all you guys can say is they suck or they're gay. Figures. I would have expected better but oh well.
