2003 Protege5 Stock Sub

While looking at cars this past March I was looking at a new protege 5. We wanted to see if it had a full spare or a half size dinky one. When we pulled up the carpet in the trunk there was a 100W subwoofer held onto the tire. Does anyone know if this is stock and if I can buy one? The salesman hadn't ever even seen it before.

Its an option on the car and is not readily avialable aftermarket as they were discontinued by Pioneer. They aren't worth 1/10th what the dealer charges for them on the options list, however if they don't know that its there, then its free :D.

Just make sure your not paying for it.

Funny how that works. I was wondering what they sounded like.. We didn't really demo that car at all so I didn't have a chance to turn on the stereo. I already bought a car... I was just thinking about how that could have been a viable option. But since you say it sounded like ass there is no point... I guess I will go hunting for a sub elsewhere. Any suggestions? Not looking for too much just somehting to add a little kick.

any other alternatives to not taking up cargo room? I like the spare sub. idea, but need the room.

Anything that won't take up room, won't put out enough bass to make it worth while.

Your better off with a small 8" or 10" sub in the smallest box they make with the amp mounted on the back. You can pick up quick disconnects at RadioShack and pull it out when you need the extra room.
