2003 Protege ES: Problems removing stock DIN size stereo

Hopefully someone has run into this before. I have (2) sets of the DIN keys for stereo removal. I removed the bezel trim. I insert the (4) keys, push them away from the unit as I try to pull the unit out of the dash. The unit does not seem to budge. Usually one or more of the keys slide out as I am pulling. What am I missing? Is there a retaining screw that I am missing?

Thanks in advance for the help!

It can definitely be frustrating. Mine had been removed before I tried removing it, and I think when the PO put it back in, it didn't hold as tightly as he wanted, so he bent the tabs a little extra to ensure they would grab. I had to have someone help me. While one person pushed with the DIN-removal keys (bent coat hanger, in our case), the other had to reach through from under the dash where the gas pedal is and push the tab out from the other side. You have to remove a section of the dashboard trim right below the steering wheel, but it's a simply snap-in section that's easy to remove and reinstall. Anyway, that's just my experience. Might be worth a try.
