2003.5 speed VS 04 sentra se-r spec v

I also tets drove both the SPEC-V and the MSP. I felt that the SPEED is a better overall car. Doesn't do anything great, but does everything well. The fit and finish seems to be better, and it looked better to me.

This is my first import car so I am worried that it has a timing belt and not a chain.

but that is my only real concern.

No cause for fear, just change the damn thing!! Aside from maintenance, belts are a better idea: less weight, less complexity, no need for lubrication, and they actually stretch less than chains do.
