Hey, has anyone seen a 2003.5 to see if i will be able to throw some fog lights in there? I dont knw if the openings are big enough on the new ones....

No I haven't seen the 2003.5.

Isn't the front end the same as the MP3 and the MP5?

Or maybe I should just go to bed and re-read the question in the morning and have a more logical answer then.

Later,

Bill

well damn
see now i cant afford 2 03 right now.. and i REALLY want the laser blue.. so pimp... but that means i give up the knob and pedals.... people can donate those to me.. hint hint.. and i get a rice-ish wing, a good lip, but no fogs..
I'm a sad mike....

I saw the 2003.5 MSP at the Canadian Intl Auto Show and you wont be able to fit the fogs that are in the mp3/msp03/or p5 in there...the holes are more long then high....first thing i suggest is replacing the front bumper with one from a p5 or something - make the car look good...the bumper on the 03.5 is just plain fugly if you ask me!

the holes are large enough for a pair of medium / smallish foglamps that you can find at any Pep Boys, Autozone, etc. Having seen the yellow mica version at the Chicago Auto Show, I can vouch that the openings are much smaller and the bumper a little less aggressive.

remember mike, you + me = deal on the grand marq'

if your dead set on having a set of fogs the same as the 2003's, just tear the front lip off ( double taped on I think), and you have a 2003 bumper. Then, get the fogs, and buy the windsplitter and your done. Only problem you might run into is maybe damaging the paint under the lip as you take it off.

Another thing. Since the lip makes the front look lower, by removing it you won't have that effect anymore. This may create an illusion where the rear spoiler will look even taller when looking at the car side on....I've seen this happen a few times.

For example, it's not uncommon to see someone stick a spoiler on a civic that seems to high. Then, later, they put a lower front bumper on, and then the spoiler don't look so bad anymore. I don'' think the lip is that much lower on the 2003.5, but the chance is there for the reverse effect to happen

Does that make sense?

I still can't figure out why they'd do away with them in the first place, especially since it's in the same year (I know, different model run, but still)...

If it were me, I'd find a nice set of Piaa or Catz lights and be done with it - no big deal. I definitely wouldn't try to rip parts of the bumper cover off - kinda the trade off I guess for having a limited production run car - take the goods and bads...

I personally like the front end of the '03.5 - but with no fogs, and no black mica available, no thanks for me! The titanium is so nice though - reminds me of Audi's nimbus gray...sweeeet!!

I agree completely. Some Mazda reps have said it was to get away from looking like the wrx.

Might be so, but, could be cost cutting as well.

Wish they would at least come out with a factory fog kit that you could buy...or...um...get the dealer to throw in for free :) with the car

im not ripping anything off anything, lol.

I might just go with some piaa's, or pull a paul walker and buy some "eurolite's" lol

because im just 2 fast and 2furious....

somebody hit me

I'm getting a SQL error on PIAA's page lately and I can't check the specs/measurements of the fogs. Are these the ones that around almost 4"s?

I got the dealer to being in a set of fogs when the titanium comes in. We going to size it up, see if we can alter the bottom lip/bumper so the stock ones fit. I'd rather keep the stock size if possible, but if I have to go a tad smaller I won't cry eithier. Even if I have to use the stock switch, and brackets, but use a difference lens....we'll see.

Until someone actually gets a car, cuts out that little air duct where the fogs are supposed to be, this is all speculation by anyone.

So, we just gotta wait until someone proves it doesn't or will work.

If they don't fit...anyone wanna buy some stock fogs, unused ?

the cutouts are almost rectangular in shape....has anyone thought about putting the smaller protege ES lamps in the car? they might fit better than the large WRX style that the mp3, p5 and msp 02 have.

NO WE HAVENT KEN!

jesus christ, what makes you think that we have to THINK about placing other protege parts into the MSP? i mean its not like its The SAME car or anything.. geesh....

lol

can i be first in line for the front lip off a 2003.5 mazdaspeed? :D anyone? anyone? (yes)

if anybody ever rips off their lip spoiler, you know who to call... ME!

I'll just cut the holes bigger if it comes to that.

And by the way, the holes on the p5/mp3/msp are also rectangle, not round. Take the light out, and you'll see. with the light in, it gives the illusion that it's round, but it's not.
