2002 Mazda MPV rear automatic door will not close

Hello, I have had alot of bad luck with my 2002 Mazda MPV. About 1 year and ahlaf ago I had to have the elctric motor replaced on the rear, passenger door for $1400. As I was driving home today, the door opened by itself, then started beeping, and would not close. Even with the power off I can not close the raer door making it impossile to drive. Please help with any guidance as we think we are looking at another huge repair. The motor and other parts seem to be working correctly, the door is just not locking. thank You.
