Ok, heres the plan, I was looking at this magazine Euro Tuner, and i saw a 1981 sirocco (spelling). anyway it had 200 at the wheels and a 150 direct shot o NOS. Well now all i can htink about is NA tuning the FS to 200 and then putting in a 150 shot of nos. Now i realize this will take quite a bit of cash, but im curious if anyone can give me a ballpark. Mainly for the Blueprinting on our engine, bore and stroke, and the direct port system. And a port and polished head. Also i was considering geting the 10.7:1 pistons.... will this be too high a compression for nitrous?? That should be about all of it. I realize rods and pins need to be upgraded, but wiht the direct port, and a blueprinted and balanced engine it should be just fine. Anyone have any info it would be great. And also, the details of what a blueprinted and balancing is? Thanks alot guys, and sorry for the typo's!:D
 
It's not recommended to have a shot of NOS that is equal to 1/2 of your stock hp.

i/h/e + FS-ZE intake cam + Mazdaspeed 10.7:1 pistons + Mazdaspeed exhaust cam + 50 shot NOS

that should put you near the 200 mark. Keep in mind that you'll need a stand alone or piggyback ECU to tune all these mods properly.

Honestly, a turbo would be cheaper.
 
I have, or at least had, basically the same plan, less the juice and 10.7:1 pistons. I see about $5000 going to custom cams and head work to get 180-190 whp. Maybe as much as another $1000 for controller and tuning work. Add in the $2500 all ready put out for struts, springs, wheels and tires, and youre into WRX territory. Hell I could have easily had a RSX.

I fear that the reports of yet another generation 2.3L may mean we get snubbed by the aftermarket due to low consumer volume of the 2.0L. If this turns out to be the case well be throwing out big bucks on custom parts and machine work just to keep from being smoked by civics. I mean damn, cant even get a decent header for this engine. I dont know about everyone else, but I hate being smoke by civics, especially since Ive had some damn good ones myself.

So, today my thought is to give my son the Pro5, and go get a WRX or RSX. Ive driven both and like the performance of the WRX the most. But the RSX has such a sweet interior. Aftermarket is also going to cover these vehicles completely, so 270+ hp could be possible for that same $5000.

Dont get me wrong, I really like my Pro5. It was a great buy for the money, and it handles as good as anything Ive ever driven.

What should I do throw out bills to make the Pro run, or lose it and get a RS/WR-X?
 
Well I always wondered why have civics become so popular when they are far from the ideal platform for a "fast" car. They have very low torque, are FWD, weak engines (internally), etc...now they have every aftermarket part avaliable for them...why did this car become so popular in the first place?

Comes down to how much money you want to spend, what is the ideal platform for you, and how unique do you want to be. In my opinion the P5 is much cooler than both WRX and RSX. If I had to choose between the WRX and RSX...I would go WRX hands down...

You can make any car fast with proper determination and cash flow...who would of thought hondas would be running 9's and 8's in the 1/4 mile.
 
You want 200 whp then NOS get a turbo and forged internals...turbo kti cost you around 4 grand then forged internals about another 2 grand and then 650 for a direct port fogger system. then you will see some gains ;) Spoolin has 188 whp at 8 psi and i'm pushing 150 at 5 psi non-intercooled.
 
10.7:1 Comp is a little too high I think for N2O or even Turbo am I right? Just look below with a high comp engine this could happen...

Actually, that can happen motor squeezing nitrous or running a turbo. It's all about proper tuning bro. You can turbo a motor running higher compression, you just have to know what you can and can't do. For example, us unfortunate guys in Cali only have access to 91 octane and on higher compression turbo'd motors, you will either need to retard the timing quite a bit on a regular basis or run higher octane gas or both. Proper tuning is the key as with any turbo'd vehicle. The lower the compression, the safe the motor, the higher the compression the more tuning will need to be involved to run it safely. But it can be done, it just requires a bit more attention.

Thanks for the info, but as of now i know imn going to go the route of NA and NOS, just to be different. Plus i dont want all that power ALL the time, do go to the store 200 is fine,, but teh 150 shot will be good for pesky civics and Mustangs hehe What i really need to know is the ballpark figures for a bore and stroke, and the info of what that intales, and a port and polish price idea, and again some detail of what that intales. Thanks alot guys, Oh and a direct port system? anyone have one on any cars, and how much $$ was it? Thanks:)

I completely empathize with you. It baffles me that there are not at least 2 or 3 headers availalble RIGHT NOW that require NO modifications.

Get the WRX and a cobb tuning turbo upgrade (320hp). BTW, stock WRX runs 14.1 in the 1/4mi; the RSX runs 15.1:eek:
 
WRX is the way to go

I agree that the WRX is the way to go if you want huge power. "If you dont like american muscle". I personally like the look and design of imports. And something that can turn. But as I said. the WRX is definately the way to go. Spend about 5grand on the cobb package and a couple other mods and you will be pushing just under 400hp. That is plenty of power to kill yourself.
