Depends on the tune, jb4 looks to be a piggy back so one would be able to remove before smog, hence the reason why I want to go this route. Already went down that road with my gti and have a carb legal tune with carb EO numbers, so no worries there.

I wonder if you could use something like a Surface Go tablet instead of a laptop. Those are as low as $500 I think.

Alternatively, if you have a MacBook or iMac, I think you can use something called Boot Camp Assistant to run Windows 10 on your machine - see here. The nice thing about this option is that it's free!

If you have a mac install « parallels « to run windows software. That is what i did for my fortin remote starter install. Free trial period and windows 10 is also (mostly) free.
