Can't seem to find much info on the 2.0L engine specs.

Just wondering what they are for the new 2.0L engine coming out for the Mazda3?

I've read it has 150hp, but how much torque?

Here is the info for EuroSpec 2.0 but i think it comes same over there.

Bore & stroke (mm) 87,5 x 83,1
Size (ccm) 1999
Power [KW (PS) / min-1] 110 (150) / 6.000
Torque (Nm / min-1) 187 / 4.500
Compression rate 10,8 (+/-0,3) : 1
Valves 16
Top speed (km/h) 200
Acceleration (0-100km/h in sek) 9,0

The 2.0l for Euro-spec is different than N. American-spec. The Euro-spec requires premium and has a higher compression ratio.

In N. American-spec, the 2.0l:

- 148hp, 144hp PZEV in the green states
- 135lb-ft, 132lb-ft PZEV
- takes regular unleaded

*confused*

States such as California where vehicle emissions are highly monitored. Green/Hippie/Tree Hugger..you get the idea. ;)

That looks like the Pro/Pro5 2.0l to me. The Mazda3 2.0l is part of a new engine family (same family as the 2.3l in the Mazda6), and has nothing to do with the Pro/Pro5 2.0l.

There are 5 green states, CA and NY are the only ones that come to my mind right now, but you can look up the others. So in those states, the 2.0l will have PZEV emissions but slightly lower hp/torque numbers. All the other states, and Canada, will have the higher output number (but not PZEV obviously).

You are very correct. *Slapping myself in the forehead*

I posted just a little too quick, instead of looking at the heading. My bad... Good luck in your search guys!

how then would u get more HP off more emissions systems...

Restrictions (multiple cats) and recirculations (some sort of EGR like system?) I would would imagine.

So Canada is looking at a 2.0L with 150hp?
and the 2.3L with about 160ish hp?

I dont think there will be any Mazda 3 with 2.3 engine. The 2.0 is the biggest. At least I havent any talk about it and here in europe the biggest is 2.0.

The Canada website for the Mazda 3 says that there's two engines... the 2.0L or the 2.3L... I think.
someone correct me if I'm wrong.

What I'm hoping is that Mazda will offer a base car for the same price as the current Mazda base car (17k CDN), while offering it with the 2.0L engine and 4 wheel disk brakes.

Am I just dreaming up some silly hope?

The 3 is going to be a little more expencive, at least here in europe. About 10-15% more i think(the 2.0 compared to the new 2.0) . But the price havent been released yet so everything is open.

the 2.3 liter engine in the Mazda3 is from the Mazda6i and is now in the Ford Focus

N. America, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand are the only markets getting the 2.3l

N. America, the 2.0l will have 148hp and 160hp, so yes, they're quite close in performance. However, the 2.3l will have more torque and has variable valve timing.

The reason for the close engines is the next lower Mazda3 engine would be a 1.6l. And although the 1.6l Mazda3 has been getting good Euro-reviews (even better than the 2.0l), it would be too low a displacement for N. America (I mean, how could MazdaUSA explain going from the Pro 2.0l down to a 1.6l).

Mazda 3 sedan...all but the high-end model will have the 2.0L. Mazda 3 sedan top of the line model plus all Mazda 3 hatchbacks will have the 2.3L.

Sedan will be quickest, as I presume, like the current Protege and Protege-5, the sedan will be the lighter of the two.

Nice use of Bush logic.

The "hippie" car has higher output specs. Guess those hippies know something you don't? ;)
