2.0 transmission swap?

I have a 2.0 p5 and I was wondering if the tranny out of a 2005 mazda3 will work with the motor.it is already a 5 speed but it has no 3rd gear

Any trans made after 2003 will not work.

Although no one has tried. One person said a 6 speed Mazda 3 trans would bolt up to the block but no proof of this happening has been seen to my knowledge. As you would still have to figure out the mounts, shifter linkage, and axles. Get the trans and see if it will bolt up. If it bolts up fine the rest is reletivley easy

Your highest gear, or fifth gear in your case, is your overdrive gear.

5/6 Speed Toyota Boxes bolt up with an adapter plate
