Just picked up a '95 323 (apparently called Neo, 2 door hatchback with the glass rear, similar to CRX) that was going to the scrap. 1.5L dohc auto.

Wondering if anyone knows what motors from which models will fit in this thing without messing around with the motor mounts. BPT would be nice if possible. I didn't even know these things existed until I saw it a few days ago. I like the look and definitely want to do something with it but I don't have the space or time to dive into a big project right now so I was hoping to put in anything with more kick and a 5 spd. Just need some advice on what motors will work.

Also, in regards to the suspension, does it have anything in common with other more common Mazdas? Protege's maybe? I got access to a 2001 Protege where I can pretty much take what I need in the next few days before it gets scrapped so it'd be good to know if yanking the motor and/or tranny is worth the trouble in regards to this 323.

The car in Canada was 1995 only... in Japan it was the Familia Neo, '95-'98. BHA platform like the Protege of the same years. Most were 1.5L but the GS trim level had the BP 1.8L, and if memory serves me right, only 108 cars were GSs with manual transmissions. There was one on ClubProtege a while back, and there are a few Familia Neos on that site.

Neat obscure cars...

You should be able to use suspension from the '95-'98 Protege... The '01 you have access to won't help you much... steering wheel should work! lol And wheels if that '01 isn't an ES.

Hi, I reply some years later, sorry.
I have a 323C, which is called Neo in Canada. You can find some parts for the 323F / Astina hatchback or on the UK forum Club323F ;)
