Me and my dad are trying to replace the CV joint on my mazda 323, and we've run into a snag. We are trying to take the cv axle out of the transmission, but it wont budge. Any suggestions?

This is the part that goes into the tranny:

In the shop we use a large pry bar (30 inches). Get it between the case and the CV axle. Be careful not to tear up the transmission seal. If it doesn't budge rotate the axle a little and try again.

i ran into this while replacing my axles in my 91, i work at a honda dealership and i had to get the local axle shop to bring in a tool that clamps on to the axle and then the tool has a bar that u slide a hande down and pretty much keep jerking at it with all you got, from what ive heard its pretty common with the 323.

do what Derrick said, I've done a million cv axles, as I'm sure he has, and the 323 ones are very easy to get out, grab a pry bar and pop em out.

All I exer had to use was a large (12-18" long) flat head screw driver. There is nothing holding the axle in except a c-ring on the tip and that's not something you can get to or anything that needs to be removed in order to pull the axle. Take a deep breath, pull, and grunt like a mule until it's out.
