18X7.5 +42 issues?

So I called SU yesterday and asked about fendor rolling and told them that I was sporting 18X7.5 +42 wheels with 225/40/18 tires. They said that my wheels were really aggressive for the speed3 and that I would most likely rub even if I got the fendors rolled! Obviously I wasn't happy with this answer as my wheels weren't exactly cheap. They suggested I'd try to sell my wheels to an EVO owner as they are a good fit for an EVO and buy a set of wheels that they have in stock at SU.

Are they blowing smoke up my ass are is this true?

Mine are 7.5 wide and + 45....3 mm difference you'll be fine.

I'm also running 235/40 tires and lowered on cobb springs

I don't know if I'm going be doing business with SU anymore. Sucks because they're local to me and have "Free shipping" and I've had good service in the past. Now it seems they're just trying to get me to spend $$ when I don't really need to. They also said the stock wheels are 7.5 wide with 100% confidence...

who were you talking to? that person could just be a little bit confused lol

I don't want to mention his name. Perhaps, you're right about being a little confussed. Maybe he had a long day or something. So yeah from the sounds of it I should be fine with Cobb springs once I roll my fendors :)
Thanks for the input (cool)

I get a tiny tiny rub with the wheel turned ALL the way to one way on the front left wheel when backing out of a sloped driveway (lol). I think the main problem with the rear rubbing is HEIGHT. there's guys iwth stock wheels/suspension rubbing with 225/45 tires (taller than stock). Especially if you're running 225/40 you should be good to go.

aaronc7 - * Off topic, I see you have the Cobb sri as well :)

I just ordered:

Part # 700200B Mazda Speed3 2007- 08 ; Filter Recharge Kit for SF intake Filter - This is the cleaning kit for the filter right? I was going to just buy a replacment filter but it's $50.00 and then when you factor in the $20.00 ground shipping it's $70.00!

I heard that on ms6 the lowest offset is 40 without rubing with rolled fender on 225/40 tire so on ms3 should be really close to that....you should be good....Im worried about mine 38mm offset when i get 235/40 on stock suspension but I should be good
and yea paint brake calipper it will look better....

Yea, buy some of our wheels that will fix everything. I am getting pissed off about all these forum sponsors whos answer to every question is buy more of our junk. That being said 42mm is a bit low for an offset.

Yes I know it's a bit aggressive but I haven't had a problem with them yet (knocks on wood)
