Just curious as to what the minimum offset that some 18" rims would need to be to fit on the Mazda 3 sedan with say a Eibach Pro-kit drop? Anyone know?

there should be several threads on that in here already, but mine is 18x7.5 with a 47 offset on sportlines. It really depends on the width/tire size as well. Anything over 45 should be fine.

Size / Offset

18 x 7.5 - 45+

18 x 8 - 48+

With Pro-Kit drop. The higher you go, the better it'll fit. (This info is not neccessarily for you, but for the people who search.)

Thanks for the help everyone. This is good info to know. I know the stuff for the Protege's, but haven't seen anything for the 3 yet until now. Thanks again.

My search for my 2.3 Mazda 3 sedan has begun. Hopefully can find one I like at a good price here within the next couple of months. Then I am selling my old Protege (with lots of mods on it) to my brother.....convert him over to the Mazda side of the car world. (thumb)

tphskab - was it expensive to get your rims changed to a higher offset? I think you went from a +42mm to a +48mm or something.

actually, I am not too sure how expensive it was. I am sponsored by the company and they took care of all of that and then shipped it to me. I am sure you can call some shops around your area and they can let you know. I think they told me $30 per wheel, but i dont remember
oh, and I went from a 42 offset to 47

i had a 40+ mm offset with an 18x7.5 wheel and i rubbed like hell in the back. im on a 45+ mm offset on the same size wheel now and i havent rubbed once.

this question is mainly directed at tphskab, but anyone that knows can help...ok i know i am extremely dense, but how do you change the offset of aftermarket wheels, is it something a shop can do or what??? this intrigues me because it is a biatch to find wheels i like in our offset...i need over a 45 obviously and i have a prokit...any help would be super! thanks

machine shops should be able to do this, you will have to call around and find out in your area. You can only make the offset higher also, for example you can make a 42 go to 47, but you cant bring a 47 to a 42

sweet thanks for the help man...absolutely the answer i was looking for/needed...one last question...expensive???

I am actually not too sure. I got my rims from a sponsor, so they sent it to be machined before it was shipped to me :)
