After just returning from a 12 hr road trip just thought I'd share some comments.... I bought the cx5 end of Aug 2013. I am very happy with it, especially driving around suburbia.... But commented before about the hard seats. I was worried about this trip, but did well...until about 7 hours at which point I added my $20 gel cushion (Walmart). This greatly helped w the pressure on my lower back and tailbone. I think the seats just do jot have much "give" and after many hours my back gets very stiff... The way home I had bad stiffness and pain in my upper back, and fortunately had a small towel that I was able to wad up and place between the shoulder blades helped... I think not enough support for me. The ride is great, very firm, controlled engaged. I feel very confident driving this car. The biggest downer for me driving- is the excessive wind noise at 65-70 mph. Doesn't matter what kind of stereo they put in it, you can barely hear anything because of the road noise.
Mileage- I got 27-29 mph going 65-75 today... My husband says that is about right, because they test cars at 55 mph for their reports...
I am overall very happy w the car, and really rarely take long trips. Everything works well, it drives well, and I am very comfortable in it around town. I have the GT and love the heated seats and the nav was very helpful on this trip...if I took long trips a lot, not sure if I could keep the hard seats and road noise......

Mine is about to turn 20k and has done many long road trips. I've found raising the seat front, lowering the tail, changing the back support during the drive and keeping the heat on low does wonders on long rides. I'm 72 so my back gets stiff easy :(

I just wish Mazda allowed the passenger to do the same, she's the reason that we went for the heated seats in the first place. Yesterday I was wondering why Mazda didn't offer a heated steering wheel, loved it on my old SAAB!

I agree- I think Mazda should offer options for the passenger seat, like electric control and lumbar... I think many folks would pay for that! I have never had the heated seats before and they are wonderful! Thanks--
