I have been beaten by a beat up MX3, that had a custom kit, and nasty paint job. Its not how much you have done to the car, but how it looks and how everything fits to perfection. Wires running on top of your valve cover is not going to cut it. Yet the way NCCA judges, it doesnt seem to matter. Running paint jobs score more than a perfect clean, perfectly maintained factory paint job. Interiors that dont match but have been customized by Joe Upholster score more than a set of Sparco seats that match your scheme. I have seen nasty spoilers that dont follow the lines of the car, fiberglassed from hell get extra points.
I'am sorry, but it gets frustrating. Doesnt mean that I have lost to good cars, they are out there.
