Spoke to Juan at Hiboost and Ken from Protege Garage and both of them told me that the stock Mazdaspeed set up is not compatible with the FS-DE 1.8 . It will NOT!!!! run right!

Yup!!! you will need a stand alone ecu anyway!! is not worth it!! I'm in the proccess to get another FS-DE 2.0 that I'm going to re-build! from top to bottom!!!sephiroth said:no, it won't, not with the stock ecu..[/I] (poke)
I heard that the 1.8L DOHC is a little more nervous than the 2.0 dohc, like they underestimated the 1.8L hp's and overestimated the 2.0L hp's. I used to have a 1990 1.8L SOHC protege and I found it to be pretty nervous indeed, even for a single camsephiroth said:people talk about the 1.8L making up for the HP loss with more boost, but the 1.8L puts out 122BHP compared to the 2.0L's 130BHP, that's really not anything noticable anyway imo.
