Hi everyone,

I saw this on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-...ryZ33631QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions for me.

1) Is this really a direct bolt-on?
2) Will this throw a CEL?
3) Does it have the right amount of bungs for a non-cali protege?
4) Has anyone installed this? Do you have anything to say about specific power gains?
5) Any group buys going on?

Please let me know if this is a repost and point me to the right place! Thanks!

EDIT 5-17-06:
For all of you who are just now joining us, let me answer the questions above for you.

1) Yes
2) Yes, use the non-fouler method to remove CEL.
3) Yes
4) Me. The boost of power feels GREAT. It's actually noticibly stronger, unlike a CAI.
5) No and there probably won't be. OBX has not been good to us in the past.

OK, the pic on the link is a 2.0L header. If that's what you got, it will not fit.
If you post a pic of the flange of the header you received I'll save you the possible trouble of taking your car apart.
Maybe you haven't seen other threads about this but the OBX 1.6L header does not exist, it never has, no one has ever seen or bought one and if you did indeed receive a 1.6L OBX header, then it's a miracle whose magnitude exceeds the virgin birth (or Marisa Tomei's Oscar win).

(lol2)

I find it a little funny that these show up on ebay RIGHT after Gary actually gets a 1.6L header to show up in the U.S.

Haha. Well, it's ok. No one's been knocking down my door for them, anyway.
But now that the 2.0L OBX has been so hard to find I may sell a few more of those.

he obx headers for 1.6l engine, its hot
i didnt encountered major problem,
minor issue :
- the first 02 sensor cable is very short, i had to loosen up the connectors from the series of cable that r all tie-wrapped but few ti-rap relocations and it was good,
- for the second o2 sensor i did the cel eliminator with resistance and capacitor from radioshack, from the post about it on this site, my old exhaust manifold was so dusty that i didnt take any chance, i heated up the bolt with a "blow torch" then i prayed and remove all the old bolts, none broke in the head.! :)
- i already had a cold air intake witch seems to give some hp in hih range but loose torque in lows. BUT with the header it semms i regain the lost torque, iand i still keep the HPs, i would like to dyno my car now but i dont know where to find a place in montreal, i have promise you some pict and you will get some i garantee it,

i recommend this header it cost me 195$us + 45 $ shipping (im in canada so that much) + another 45$ can for customs taxes... yes our government own us too!(those bastard).. so bottom line is i got this header for about 300$
on ebay, the user who sold it to me was dannywong. good seller.

let me tell you the sound is freakin awesome!

if some one get one of those, id like to hear your comments!

Peace!

Samuel

He bought a Mustang GT and was going to part out some stuff, but not any more...he sold the car intact.
You can still get into my GB before Sunday, though!:)

I don't know how yu got that to work without leaking but that sure looks like a 2.0L flange to me from that angle.

thunder's construction is definitely better...thicker flange, all polished ss(including the flange), 2 piece design, better welds, etc.....

it did fit well, and i dont bother have a cheaper part since all the part ive put are cheapo one (muffler, cai, piggyback, header) at the end ive got sumthing to have fun with and its a nice package for 500$us :) i would definitly go hi-boost on this but 4200$ its about the price of the car! better keep that $$ on something with power like audi '98 v6 2.8, eclipse GSX, maybe a honda with h22a or nissan with sr20 det
(something with ~200 hp right at the start)

Thanks ducktape!!! Your ebay name isn't afebus1 is it? That guy installed it too. He told me it took 30 minutes (he has air tools) and it didn't throw a check engine light. Is the cel eliminator necessary? I will definetely be getting one of these soon. I plan to take it a mechanic since I'm clueless about this stuff. Hurray for bolt on power!

Also, Dave from OBX told me this when I asked if it fits:

YES, IT IS MADE FOR THE 1.6L DX/LX ZM-DE Engines.

Thanks

Dave-OBX

What do you have to say now Protophile? =P

What do I have to say? You spelled my name wrong!
Haha. Seriously, in the end, I'm just looking out for you guys. That said, I find it curious that after years of promising, it shows up shortly after I start importing the Thunder header.
Anyway, Thunder's construction is better, but it's good that you 1.6ers have a choice.

I'm surprised Ken hasn't chimed in on this thread at all, though.
