1.6 Intake

you wont see any gains, ut will give u a bit of a deep growl when on the throttle, but wont hurt anything.

intakes on a 1.6 are a complete waste of money. you won't notice any gains. some intakes are 2.5", our stock pipe is 2.25" meaning you'll run into issues (hesitating, jerking, rough idle and cel P0171). some people swear a celica maf solves the issue but even if it does that's more money on top of the price of the intake and for what gains? nothing.

im using a celica MAF with an injen CAI ...hehe no problems..... seriously kine no hesitation ....not even a cel poped up

A K&N drop in would be fine with little mod at the grill so that cold air can be sucked into the intake...I do have a custom true CAI (using 2.25" tubing for MAF so no CEL or whatsoever) but, in comparison with K&N, I didnt notice any gains in either MPG or power except a hoover sound at WOT.

ok hmm well dont get an injen cold air....my bracket to hold it still keeps on breaking.... i re welded it twice haha no need em i guess.... but yeah if you do watch out!!1

alright thanks, IukekiniProtege and silver astina02, i dont know if anyone saw the other thread i made, but another method to mod the air box is remove the bottom portion and zip tie the filter to the top half. I think this might be a bad idea but tell me if it isn't.

sounds like warm air intake to me... a simple mod would be taking off the plastic bit above the header and run a flexible tube (3") from the airbox inlet to the hole where all CAIs use. This will give you cold air without the hoover sound. I have done this before my CAI. This would give you better throttle response without looks and sound of CAI.

Autozone sells a plastic one w robber connectors @ $20, and it's black , cuz the home depot ones are aluminum. I used that before w the factory box and worked pretty well, but I wanted something louder (besides the fact that my air box was falling apart)

pictures please!?

Cosmo Racing does have a nice CAI that fits perfect once you get it under the fender, i installed it in about an hour and it runs really nice and has a strong sound to it. It does not create and pulling or anything so if your looking for a direct fit thatd be the best choice

I also have the Cosmo Racing CAI. It's pretty much a Injen knockoff. works well sounds good.

After this pic was taken I replaced the blue couplers with brand spankin new black ones. The intake before hand was silver, I painted it and now it's looks really good.

Yeah, lol. Those things come w crappy plastic clamps and they failed miserably, so i bought those couplers @ $5 each, so no big deal. Yes, the adapter can be found in Autozone & Pep Boys, but be aware that you need to downsize the inside for it to work. I used pvc tubbing and held it with a small piece of foam around it w a hole for the maf of course.
I'll eventually get rid of it when I can afford the turbo kit I want, maybe next year, or the next...!? or a decently priced intake, since the fools around here pretend to charge $250 for a short one, screw them.
