07 Ms6

I've read on here in more then a few threads that they are going to make a 07 MS6 and that they aren't. I was told by a dealer that they haven't seen a new MS6 come off the truck in over 45 days and that they aren't going to see any more new ones cause they are a one year only car cause the MS3 is coming in 07 and Mazda won't release two MS cars at the same time. Now I know dealers most of the time are just trying to push the car that they have instead of having to order something especially if they are getting a second model year run. Or is it possible that they are doing an extended model year run of MS6's to carry over till the next body style?

I guess my real question here is, does anyone have any actual written proof that there is going to be an 07 MS6? I just keep getting mixed responses about whether or not there is going to be, and if there is I'd like to see the proof and any differences if any that Mazda made between the two.

Thanks

I have seen two mazdaspeed6s come off the truck at dealers in the last 3 weeks...and have had 3 dealers (sales and gm's) tell me that there will be a2007 speed6 (left over parts from '06 i think). Were you at in northern Illinois? I am up in grayslake.

Written proof? I have none. However, expect the 2007 MS6 to be no different than the 2006 model. Why would mazda still produce the same body style for only one more year and just get rid of the flagship sedan? Doesn't make much sense to me. Plus the Mazda 3 still has another 2-3 years left before it's redesigned, and I doubt mazda would only run the MS3 for one year as there are still plenty more years of that body style. Mazda will hold onto the current speed models untill the end of their model run.

I'm guessing the next vehicle to be done will be the MX-5 again...look for mazda to cram that 2.3 turbo under the hood to compete with the upcoming Turbo Solstice and Sky Redline.

The redesigned Mazda 6 is delayed, and they decided to make the MS6 for another year to keep the line fresh and be their flagship sedan.

On the flip side, they aren't selling, MAzda's marketing sucks on this car and nobody knows what it is. Dealers can't rid of the ones they got now and I'd imagine they sure aren't excited about getting more. If MAzda yanked it last minute I would not be surprised, but last we heard here was that late August/Sept the new 07 MS6 would arrive. Here in Canada we even get a new color, the titanium grey model which I almost waited for.

I went to 2 dealerships today and each had 8+ MS6's. The one deal was doing the $4500 off sticker thing too. I can't wait for another 3 months when they are giving them away. It's really a gift and curse that mazda blows at advertising.

In 2002 Audi made the S4 in the old bodystyle while having released a new bodystyle A4 ( S4's are off of the same platform). RS6's were technically only made one year (03) but we were getting them well into 04. It was called a "long production year." So I have seen a car company carry over a performance model, or option package to get rid of some extra parts.
Now I am not totally fimiliar and I am sure I'll get corrected real fast, but wasn't the MSP made for 1 or 2 years before it ended?

In car shopping I've learned a lot about a lot of different cars. I asked about any differences cause I know Subie has a model Legacy GT spec B that in 06 was a limited edition car. In a wierd move, they are now making the LGT spec B and option package but are adding a lot of new things to it like fold down rear seats, memory seats, tire pressure monitoring, etc. So I was wondering if Mazda was going to follow suit and do something similiar. If so I was going to see if they change and then make my descision then.

Thanks

Btw I live in Mundelein.

To back you up look at the M3... still in production with the body long gone, and i don't think they have changed the "model year" either....

But you won't see anything new from Mazda.... rest assure... they have already said no changed...

The MS6 seats do fold down, I would love memory seats :), and TPMS is pointless ;)

the first msp's hit around November of 2002 as a 2003 model (orange). More released again in April'ish 2003 as a 2003.5 model(grey/yellow), and more again in the US near the end of 2003 as a 2003.7 model ( blue and Silver).

The Mazdspeed6 rear seats don't fold down. There is a large X-brace there for structural support. That is why the Mazdaspeed is only offered in the sedan and not the hatch or wagon.

In the how to section of this forum there is a guy who made his rear seat fold down. Apparently the seat latches are there, they just didn't put in a release. He even gives the part numbers to be able to order the parts to make the seats fold down. Yes there is a cross brace in there, and I could be wrong after looking at it there is enough room to be able to put some thing through the seat area.

Another point though is since everyone here especially knows, Mazda still obviously has a lot of unsold 06 MS6's still on dealer lot, why would they release another year of them if they aren't selling as fast as projected? Like the one dealer that told me they hadn't seen a new one come off the truck in 45 days, they still have 14 in stock. Which means that's 14 that have been sitting for over 45 days on their lot unsold. You can blame advertising and all, but Audi never advertised RS cars and we can't keep them in stock for a week.

I heard as well that the MS6 will continue into 07 though there will most likely be few changes. Quite a surprise, given I expected a one year limited run.

we heard months ago that there won't be any changes, just new colors

Now, seeing as they aren't selling well, I think the single best thing that Mazda could do is make some minor changes. Similar to what they've done with other Mazdaspeeds. Change the wheels, even if it's to add a new hyperblack chrome to the wheels like the 2003.5 MSP. Drop the car an inch properly, put in a friggin mp3 player already! and maybe even stick the normal Mazda6 ground effects on it. I think thats what it needs, and all the parts are already available at Mazda.

Sometimes the most subtle and cheap changes can change a car as well all know.

Good call Newf. I agree with all of your comments, but there is one MAJOR reason why they can't do this. You AND I already have our MS6's so we wouldn't be able to buy this NEW MS6...LOL. Now if they want to offer us a no-penalty trade then we are talking a different kettle of fish there.

Also keep in mind that the 07 wasn't planned. It was a last minute decision when they found out the new generation 6 couldn't be built for 07.
