06 MS6 Key Fob

Earlier this afternoon, I managed to lose my fob while driving the car home from the cottage... long story short.. the car will start when someone sets the key on the sunroof! Anyway, I was hoping to buy a spare, as I luckily had my original 2nd key wrapped in foil in the center console. Does anyone know where to buy the advanced key fobs? I know I saw some on e-bay a long time ago.. and the price wasn't bad. I know the dealer will have them too but I'm guessing the price will be intolerable. Thanks.

I just paid 166$CAN + tax at the dealership, last week. If you need the little key as well, add 45$CAN + tax.

I found it here(cheapest I seen). It cheaper than the dealer ($245). I had the part number for it, but I lost it. I Google the part number and came across one place that carries them.

Thanks guys... it really sucks that I lost this thing.. I just can't believe how the car would start with it sitting on the sunroof. The sensor must see it above.. but not to the sides.. because it will not start outside the doors otherwise.

will you need to have the dealership program the new key or is it possible to do it without the dealership. I only have one key and am looking to get a spare but dont feel like going through the dealership for 300 bucks

with the non-advanced (switch blade style) you can do it yourself. i'm not sure with the advanced key.

The Mazda dealer near me told me they'd have to program that smart card key. The switchblade you can do yourself. Sucks for me, I bought my MS6 used and it didn't come with a smart key or a switchblade key. I have one valet key. (bang)

Just an FYI, the car will double-chime at you 3 times if the engine is on and the key "leaves" the car. Just remember, it wasn't the seatbelt chime last time. (lol)
