04 vs 05

(gossip) So here's the deal guys this is how much I definately know about the new 3 05s in Canada...

Difference in colour (they are now offered in the same colours + the carbon grey that the Mazda6 comes in)

The price is the exact SAME as the 04s, financing and leasing (atleast here in Ontario)

The key has changed to that flip up thingy (big deal!)

I don't believe any other changes (i.e no heated leather seats etc....)

from waht i hear the financing RATES will change (5.9% all across the board) when i called mazda canada they wouldn't tell me ANY details - b/c "it's not official yet" blah...

what i know for sure is that the hatch will come in indigo blue and the sedan in winning blue (called a dealer and they said that they were awaiting one in 2 weeks) so now all the colours are avialable on both of the models

there wouldn't be any MAJOR changes as the 3 just came out..

Flip up key, no big deal, you can just order a new one for your 04 in 05 and it will be flip up (thumb)

I was not aware that the new key/remote is coming for the '05 Mazda3, but I've seen the new '05 RX-8 key/remote and its damn cool.

The MSRP for Canadian-spec '05 Mazda3 will go up (around $300cdn). But, because the '05 MSRP hasn't been released yet, Mazda Canada has told its dealers that they can currently order an '05 Mazda3 for customers based on the '04 MSRP. While this sounds great for the customer (in that the dealer will eat the MSRP difference), the risk is that lease & finance rates will be whatever it is when the car is delivered (and while the lease rates really can't go any higher, already at 7.1% for 48 months, the finance rates will go up).

So in Canada, if you're planning on leasing or making a cash purchase, now is a good time to order an '05. If you're financing, I would suggest to grab an '04 and take advantage of the current financing rates.

I'm not sure how VW's are, but the Mazda one is retractable. Here's a pic of the '05 RX-8 key.

Well, I do know a bunch of '04 RX-8 folks plan on trying to re-program the new '05 key. I personally think it will be 50-50 doable, and even if it can be done it'll be very expensive to do (I'm sure these remotes will be very expensive, and you may be forced to do two of these, so twice the cost).

However, I'm still not convinced the '05 Mazda3 will get this type of key (not that I don't believe sunnybunny, but I have it on good authority what the '05 changes are and this isn't one of them). Also, the '04 RX-8 keyless is different than the '04 Mazda3 one (the RX-8 has trunk opener). I don't think Mazda would want to make two types of this new key yet (and while such a cool key is needed on a sports car, it's really not necessary for the Mazda3 segment at this moment).

Yes, Sirius will be an accessory that can be added to any '05 US-spec Mazda3 (the '05 factory headunit can accept Sirius with some additional hardware that can be purchased from the dealership).

Well, it's hard to get an 04 you want, as they are sold out, minus the last few remaining at dealerships. My mom ordered and 05 in Sand Mica, expected arrival is late October. ONe change to colour, Orange is no longer available

The Flip Up Key is a Hoax.
But thanks for hyping everyone up.
The flip key is not even mentioned in the 2005 brochure. A change like that would definitely get mentioned. Thanks for the hype though!! Thank your dealership for feeding you some nice bs too!!! (thumb)

on the next up year for the 6 the automatic trannys had a pcm/cluster update making the gear indicater be on all the time instead of just in manualmatic mode....same for new mazda 3?
