'04 Mazda 3 2.3L HB - bad fan switch

Hi everyone, new to forum. Bought my 3 used 2 years ago from a GM employee who was being made to take a program car. Problem - I have a bad fan speed dial switch - it does not make a good connection in any setting and the a/c flashes off and on again while driving. I can push on the switch or hit it and it causes a/c to cycle on/off. Though the fan speed remains unaffected. Anyone ever have this same problem and fixed it themselves? Can you recommend instructions or a manual that shows how to remove the center console and switch? Thanks.
