02 Mpv Cel

140,000 Miles on this '02 MPV 3.0L V6, I get a rough idle and later on a CEL. Other than idle, it runs fine.

Looking at the codes, PO174, PO171, and PO131, my friend's reader comes up with likely bad O2 sensor on bank one, sensor one. I see 4 sensors one on either side of the two cat. converters. Which is bank one, and is sensor one between the manifold and the converter?

He also said that on some vehicles, these need to be changed out in pairs.

Any help?

Thanks,

Chris

Its usually better to change em out in pairs, since, if its not a factory defect, its likely both are going to be shot. Your main o2 sensor will be at the point where both manifolds, or exhuast pipes come together. On yours, you will most likely have one on one half of the exhuast and one towards the middle after the junction pipe. Im not too familure with mpvs, but chryslers are a bit alike in some cases. The bank o2 is on one cat, usually the 1st, 3rd, and 5th cylinders.

Edit: Just re read the first post, disreguard.

r those bank lean codes??? i dont see alot of bad o2's on MPV. it most likely a vaccum leak either at the intake or the PCV hose on the back of the intake. i would inspect them closely before getting a o2 sensor.

On this one, the exausts do not come together untill after the o2 sensors, and converters, so there are 4 sensors.

Any pics of the hoses I should be checking?

Problem resolved: rubber boot pcv on the back valve cover had collapsed then cracked. All is ok now.

Thanks for all the help.
