    Motortrend 10' MS3 review

My 07 speed3 has left me with no regrets. I test drove the GTI, WRX, Si, S40 T5, and even a Scion TC ( don't ask - it's a neat car for the $$, but out of this league ). For what I wanted in a car, the MS3 is still the champ of my personal comparo. Performance, utility ( 4dr hatch ), value...

brake pads - recommendations need please

The Hawk HPS produce little to no dust compared to oem for me. Highly recommended for less dust. As I posted before, they don't perform as well as oem for daily driver braking, but are adequate.

    Tire Advise Welcome.

I'm glad you like them, but they broke loose in first and second on my way home from work today after time to warm up. I autoX'ed the stockers last year and I would have been off in the weeds if I had these these Falkens on. I'm not saying they're bad - I've had Yoko's that were much worse...

    Tire Advise Welcome.

I've had the Falken 452's for about 9k miles now ( 225/45-18 ). They just barely rubbed when they were newer, but only over bumps with someone riding in back. They do not grip quite as good as the stock tires, so they'll squeel easier on acceleration and around turns, but they perform fine for...

brake pads - recommendations need please

I have hawk hps. They are fine for nromal street use and produce virtually no dust. I've had them for about 1000 miles. They do not bite as well as the stock pads and, as a result, take more pedal effort for the same amount of braking performance. I haven't noticed any fade when braking...

    MS3 Brake pads.

I agree. I have HPS on my car for street use and compared to oem pads there is virtually no dust ( why I bought them ). They are fine daily driver use, but under hard braking the oem pads performed better. I'm keeping them in case I go auto-xing again.......

    Dashhawk Questions

I have mine mounted similarly, but to the left so it only covers below 2k rpm on the tach. Of course, RPM is one of things I usually have up on the dashhawk anyway. It sits just high enough to read all the display and no higher. I just custom cut something to mount the dashhawk to that...

    Is this tire size possible

I have 225/45 Falken 452's. If I have backseat passengers and hit bumps, the center of the tire hits the plastic wheel well liner towards the rear end of the car. Just barely - not enough to cause a problem. Actually, after my first tire rotation, I haven't had them rub again......

Oops - that's what I get for posting at work!

    Forge Billet wastegate Actuator?

The "bucks and lags" sounds like the MAF is not reading airflow correctly. That was the problem with the MS CAI before you add the air straigthener that is on the AEM CAI ( maker of MS CAI ). The problem doesn't sound like your WGA at all. Did you try putting the stock intake back on yet to...

    Short Shifter Compare Questions

I've had the TWM for 5k miles and it's excellent. I have a 6'3" arm span and the shortened height is not an issue for me - I thought maybe I'd be bonking my elbow on the armrest on the 2,4,6 shifts, but it doesn't happen. I don't do much modding anymore ( just CAI and SS ), but the TWM has...

For those that have LSD noise after switching to MT90

I've had MT-90 in for 15k miles or so. Same issue - cold mornings until the engine warms up I get the same thing. Wasn't as bad when the fluid was new, but has gotten worse over time. Noise stinks, but the shifting when cold is still better than stock fluid.

whats the widest i can go in tires on stockers

same here - with extra weight or hard bumps, both rear tires can rub on the plastic liner in the rear center of the wheel well, but just barely...... my tires are Falken 452's 225/45-18

    AEM CAI possibly redesigned already?

I bought the straightener from JSCspeed for $15.35 shipped. I notice a definite improvement in how my car responds under acceleration. Before, I would get surging/stumbling at times, especially if I nailed the throttle. Now, I don't even have to think about it - stumbling/surging is gone no...

    twm shifter install?

I installed mine this morning - couldn't pass up the sale. I've had my MS3 for almost 2 years and can't figure out why I didn't do this sooner - I guess I needed the sale to hook me. Anyway, this is an excellent mod. Even after all the time with the MS3, I would mis-shift from time to time...

stock tired and what to get after.

The Falken 452's are speed rated Z or Y I think........ Anyway, they are a little cheaper than Azenis and should last longer. 452 treadwear rating is 300, Azenis is 200. The Azenis are probably a better tire for sport handling, but as I said above, I actually wanted something a little softer...

stock tired and what to get after.

I got 21k out of the oem tires with one day of autocross school in there. I replaced them with Falken 452's 225/45-18. If I hit a big bump I get an extremely small amount of rubbing somewhere in the back wheel wells. They add a little squish to the ride and handling, but with some of the...

    AEM CAI possibly redesigned already?

anyone notice how the positioning of the flow straightener is rotated 90 degrees between the drawing on page 2 and the picture on page 6 of aem's installation instructions? I think it's the page 6 picture as that matches the orientation in the cpe intake as well ( I know it's not exactly the...
