If you don't want dust get the Posi-Quiets. I don't see much dust even after two weeks. They also don't brake for s***.

You may want to try OEM Volvo brake pads for the s40/v50 t5 awd. They don't dust much but they take a little hit in the brake performance. Nothing as horrible as Posi-Quiets though.

The Hawk HPS produce little to no dust compared to oem for me. Highly recommended for less dust. As I posted before, they don't perform as well as oem for daily driver braking, but are adequate.

I guess maybe it's different results for different folks. I have them on another car and they make plenty of black dust. Really no different than the stock pads IMO but they don't bite as well initially and make weird noises at slow speeds and light braking, like when backing down the driveway etc.

I won't be buying another set of Hawk HPS ever again.

My HPS definitely produce less dust than stock, but they're not exactly what I'd call a "low dust pad."

Mine actually seem to make less noise than the stock pads around at slow speeds and light braking at similar wear levels.

As far as braking performance goes, they hold up to heat a little better than the OEM pads during tracking sessions (less fade), at the expense of some initial bite/pedal feel when cold/cool.

There's a GB going on at the other forum for Hawk pads. They have the Hawk HPS for $122 shipped and the Hawk Performance Ceramic for $127.

Anyone have experience with the latter? I have heard ceramic is very low dust. I think I might get those. Can anyone verify if the GB price is better than what you can get elsewhere?

I was under the impression the more ceramic material the more dust. That is the price for the front or rear set? I was not aware that Hawk had a ceramic avalaible. thats pretty cool

I ordered the Hawk Performance Ceramics. They'll be here Friday for install. The GB price was too alluring :)

I've got about 20k miles on my MS3 and aren't exactly in 'need' of new pads... but the hour+ I'm spending on cleaning these F'in wheels every F'in weekend has got to stop. The amount of dust these produce is just ridiculous. On top of that, as much as I like the stock MS3 wheels... they are a royal pain in the ass to clean. So... yeah, I'm looking for some new pads as well. The lower the dust the better. Any recommendations?

(mswerd) seriously, this is almost my sole reason for wanting to replace my stock wheels. IMO, they aren't that ugly and do match the car somewhat, but the amount of effort I spend cleaning them, just to have my brake pads s*** all over them again, is annoying (bang)

So far...two thumbs way up!

Installed the Hawk Ceramic Pads on the Speed3 this past weekend and they're great thus far - granted it's only been two days. Did the bed-in procedure and there was virtually no dust that I could see after that. I was expecting to see a good amount since that's usually the case after bedding in other pads I have used. So far the performance has been really good. Can't feel a decrease in initial bite during daily driving over the stock pads. Totally satisfied with the pads and the price. Now I don't have to clean the stock wheels as often!

how much were they and they still working as initially reported?

I cant take the dust neither and I think I may change mine prematurely too.

Axxis ULT from ProtegeGarage. They offer awesome initial bite, no fade, and dust no worse than stock with more grip. They have no downside.

The Hawk Ceramics were $127 shipped with the GB. Dust is still night and day difference from the stock pads (in a good way) and, to me, I can't tell a difference between the performance during daily driving. Win-win for me since that's what I do about 95% of the time. For track purposes, I haven't a clue.

For Hawk HP pads, it's $122 shipped and the Hawk HP+, it's $155 shipped. Those are REALLY good prices considering all other places were almost $40 - $50 more for front and rear sets when I priced them. GB ends 6/15.

Do the stock brake pads need any anti-squeal compound? I've seen some tutorials where it wasn't used.

When I was taking off the stock pads, I didn't notice any residue on it. My guess is that they don't have anti-squeal compound on them.
