whats the widest i can go in tires on stockers

I think he means wheels ? If that it then you can go 8 inch without any real rubbing issues, theres a member on here that ran 9's with some work

i have 225 45/18 on my stock tires. I have small rubbing issues on bumps or with passangers. Usually during heavy cornering or on rough roads.

same here - with extra weight or hard bumps, both rear tires can rub on the plastic liner in the rear center of the wheel well, but just barely...... my tires are Falken 452's 225/45-18

I have pretty much come to the conclusion that the rubbing is from the height and not the width. 225/40-18 would have been better for me to go with. Ill know for sure in a few weeks when I get another set of tires.

It may be improper, but he pulls better times than he did with 225/40R18 R-comps on the stock wheels (about the only other size R-comp you can get that will physically fit on our stock wheels - I think Michelin makes the Pilot Sport Cup in 235/40, but it's generally accepted that that tire is not as good as Hoosier or Kumho R-comps)...

If you want to stay in the Stock SCCA classes, you can't change your wheel width, and you can't even come close to being competitive without R-compound tires. This is why he runs that size.

I'd say that's pretty damn proper!
