The 1st gen turbo Probe Gt guys used to do it. There was a few threads about it in the early 2000's. I followed the thread about it on Probetalk and did it to my own 89 Probe gt probably 15 years ago. Kinda fun DIY project, but nothing comparable to an actual IC sprayer.

3rd row seating is a bit cramped in the new CX9. If your thinking of shoving adults back there, id say get a 2013-2015 CX9 instead as they had a ton more room and adults could even sit in the 3rd row comfortably. Its one of the things i really didnt like about the 2016 i test drove.

Keep in mind the CX5 is still based on the Mazda3 car platform. So its definitely not something to think of as a true off road truck or anything. But it at least looks more then capable of a camping trip, or any other off road trip. I just wouldnt expect it to tackle the Moad, or Rubicon. lol

Research in the KLZE v6. It was Mazda's last V6. And actually a power house of a motor when boosted. There is even a site that specializes in RWD applications for them. Its alot easier to source, a ton cheaper, and lighter. And keeps it 100% Mazda. http://crapengineering.weebly.com/

AEM sells a fix exactly for this. Its called a AEM air straightener. There less then $10 shipped brand new. Slap it in place, and the CEL will go off. Problem solved.
