Off Topic Dealerships need to end

I recently read something in a Mazda group: "I'm a finance guy in the car business and a BIG fan of service contracts" Well of course they are, the back room add ons and financing percentage hold-backs is where they make all of their money. It should be *ILLEGAL* for a car dealership to offer...

Cleaned the intake valves on my 2013 CX-5

115,000 miles, getting a P0300, random misfire. I figured it was crapped up valves, and yes, they were NASTY. Got around to cleaning them today, and this job was E.A.S.Y. It's kind of intimidating because you're pulling the intake manifold off, but it's really a simple job, no lie. I used a...

New valve cover gasket time! 2012 Mazda5

150,000 miles on the 2012, time for new valve cover gaskets. The internal one had failed, coating the spark plugs. I used Fel-Pro part number VS 50639 R-1. Perfect fit. I also changed the o-ring on the cam position sensor while I was there.

What is the purpose of a HUD?

We're not shooting down MiGs with our Mazda, so what's the point? Just something else to jack up the price of the car? I don't get it.

Off Topic Curious what bikes people here have

I have two bikes, a 74 CL125S that my uncle left me when be passed, so I'll never sell it, and an 06 Shadow VLX. First bike I ever saw on the road that I just fell in love with was a Hurricane 600. I nearly bought one, but for whatever reason the deal didn't go through. Even still, I've been a...

Important Info: Using the iDataLink Maestro RR in Mazdas

iDataLink just came out with a plug and play T-Harness for our Mazdas, part number HRN-HRR-MA1. This will make installing an aftermarket radio completely baboon-proof. However, it's not widely available at all right now, so for the time being, we still have to use the generic harness. But...

Battery size 24F fits fine (Mazda5)!

The van is spec'd to take a group size 35, same as my CX-5. You can go bigger though, to a 24F if you want a tad bit more "oomph" like if you have a stereo or whatever. The 24F pops right in without any modifications at all. That will get you an extra 100 CCA, give or take.

2013~2016 Found an excellent place to run accessory wiring from battery to inside the CX-5

If you need to run accessory wiring from the battery to the inside of the car to add stuff like aux lighting, or an amp, or whatever, if your CX-5 has the automatic transmission, there's a huge and terrific spot to drill through: it's where the clutch would have gone! There's absolutely nothing...

    Mazda5 seat interchangeably

Does anyone know if the first gen Mazda5 seats are compatible with the second gen? The second gen has built in airbags, so that's definitely a concern as well as simply bolting in.

Mazda TSB regarding Mazda5 ATF vs "universal" fluid: Don't do it!

I don't know how I missed this before, but I found a Mazda TSB talking about the differences between M5 and Mercon V. We all pretty much know to never use Mercon V, but some of us use "Universal" ATF. Don't! Mazda specifically states this is a bad practice and could possibly damage your...

Off Topic A guide on how to get better sound quality out of your stereo

PART 1 - Source Before anything else, learn about the computer term "GIGO". Garbage In, Garbage Out. What that means is, no matter how good your hardware is, if the software is trash, then the whole thing is trash. Any system is only as good as the weakest link, and if you're starting with the...

    I miss my Mazda3

Possibly the best car I've ever owned. Only reason I sold her was she was over 230,000 and started using oil. But still, what a wonderful ride.

SOLD! Fortin Evo 9 remote start with wiring CHEAP

This thing *did not work* for my 2013 CX-5, and almost left me stranded. When I contacted Fortin for technical support, they as much as told me to pound sand. Maybe it will work for you. This does have the THAR-ONE-MAZ3 harness and also a pair of 2 way 6000' remote controls. That's over a mile...

Off Topic I did a crazy thing to my 1958 Ford Tractor

Gertrude drinks gas, about a gallon per hour, maybe more. So I'm trying to do what I can to increase the efficiency, so I picked up a cheap used MSD 6 ignition box and Blaster 2 coil. Got it hooked up today and re-gapped the plugs from .025" to .040. It runs AMAZING like that! It takes a nut...

Mazdas are extremely reliable. Don't waste your money on an extended warranty

I'm on my 5th Mazda, 6th if you count the B3000, (which I kinda don't, because it's a Ranger with a different grille. But it did have a Mazda sourced transmission in it, so maybe?). I've been driving them since Jan of 1993 when I bought my first Mazda, a 92 323 with 17,000 on it. Since that 92...
