Pulled my intake manifold off, couldn't believe what I saw...

I just ended up totally removing all four plates. Once the ecu reset itself, it seemed to run perfectly fine without them.

What have you done to your P5 today?

Where'd you get the engine from? Was it somewhere local, or are you having it shipped?

    Intake manifold installation

The hardest part for me was that damned metal tube that goes from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold. All of the nuts/bolts that actually hold the intake manifold to the block are easy to get to once you find the right angle, and the two 12mm bolts on the underside brace weren't a problem.

    Tires, Wheel Bearing or Axel

If the tires are in bad enough shape to be making a bunch of noise, then you should probably be able to tell just by looking at them. Check for bulges or splits or exposed belts, etc...

Yeah, from what I've read, they should still cover it.

How do you know when to change the clutch?

Is that adjustable, like it is on cable clutches?

Pulled my intake manifold off, couldn't believe what I saw...

I put it all back together today, and thankfully it's running like a champ. I think having the debris in the intake runner was definitely causing a loss in top-end performance.

Pulled my intake manifold off, couldn't believe what I saw...

You may or may not remember, but about a month ago I posted that something bad had happened, and it turned out that I was a victim of the all-to-common VICS screw in engine problem. Intending to tighten the remaining screws before they also worked their way loose, I went about removing my...

You should look around a bit more. I've had heads decked before and definitely paid less than $300.

Where to buy a replacement engine?

Is the MSP wiring harness different from the P5?

Where to buy a replacement engine?

Did you get the whole MSP setup (turbo, manifold, and all), or just the long block?

Is there a How-To for engine removal?

I don't know for sure, but I'd be surprised if that was even possible. It if were me, I'd just pull the whole thing, then separate the motor/trans, put you tranny on the new motor, and then wedge it all back in. Getting the transmission off/on will be much easier with the engine out of the car.

Where to buy a replacement engine?

$1200-$1400 seems a bit high to me, unless it's reconditioned or something. I feel like I should be able to find this motor for somewhere in the $600-$900 range.

Where to buy a replacement engine?

Ever since I had that whole problem with the VICS screw falling down into cylinder #4, I've noticed a bit of smoke when the engine's running. It's mostly after initial startup, but it continues to smoke a little after it's been running. I'm fairly positive that one of two thing is happening...

    Tires bulged :(

In my experience, hitting large potholes will damage your tires. I suppose it may be less likely with better quality/more expensive tires, but I'm not sure. I would say just be happy you're having to replace $50 tires, rather than $200 tires.
