Thinking of giving my CX-5 with 105K miles to daughter

:
2018 Mazda CX-5 Touring
I’ve owned my 2018 CX-5 since it was new. It now has 105,000 miles on it. My daughter’s car was recently stolen, and I was thinking of either selling or giving her my car, however, I am concerned about giving her a car with this mileage on it, knowing that Mazda has issues with the cylinder head cracking. The car is a normally aspirated engine with cylinder deactivation. Vehicle has always been maintained at the dealer other than brakes and spark plugs and filters which I’ve done myself. There has been no major issues with the vehicle so far.

Knowing that there is a possibility of an issue and knowing that the repair cost would be rather expensive, would any of you have an issue I’m passing along this vehicle to your child?

I wouldn't give it a second thought. Sure, the repair could be expensive, but that's only if it happens. Because the car would be gifted to her, I'd just advise her to be aware of the potential issue and set aside some cash for an emergency to cover the repair. Much cheaper than buying a brand new car, and the emergency cash stays in her pocket until/if she needs it.

My son drives our old 2016 GT. It now has 160,000 miles. Other than replacing the lower control arms a few weeks ago (the bushings were worn out) I'm shocked at how well it still drives. It's been a rock solid car.

I would have it inspected, fluids renewed or checked, then, give it to her.
I gave used cars to my kids and sent them to college. Same routine.

2016 CX-5 is a totally different vehicle from the 2018. The 2016 doesn’t have cylinder deactivation and the 2018 has it which is inherent many potential major problems on engine (cylinder head cracking) and transmission (torque converter failure).

Your car is proven reliable. You don't have that assurance with a new car (warranty coverage cost aside).

105,000 miles is nothing with modern Japanese cars.

Nobody can guarantee, not even Mazda itself, the thin 2mm wall on the cylinder head of the 2.5L NA with cylinder deactivation can hold the stress without cracking for the life of the engine. It could crack the next 1,000 miles, it could last another 105,000 miles. It’s the unknown factor with a known bad design of the thin 2mm wall on the cylinder head which is the concern. Save some money just in case like @sm1ke suggested is the best way to handle this situation when the OP gives his 2018 CX-5 to his daughter.

Isn't cylinder head cracking related to the turbos not NA's?
Yes, cylinder head cracking is also happening after Mazda modified the 2.5L NA head for cylinder deactivation. The crack area is different from the 2.5T, and oil leak instead of coolant leak is the symptom.

Mazda 3 Skyactiv-G 2.5 N/A with C/D (2019 year 20.000 km.) - really interesting and detailed process of removing the head and welding the crack. He is speaking Russian but everything is clear without a verbal explanation:

2.5 NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil leaking...How common is this?
