CX-5 Sport and Touring AC Knob Replacement

I thought it was those pieces keeping them from going all the way in! I'm going to take some needle-nose pliers to em tomorrow.

You're right about them not looking like a Lexus. I have another plan in mind once I can find manual HVAC controls from a 2014 6 that if pulled off should satisfy me. I should have just got a GT lol.

Is that even possible? I'd also like to use the knobs from the current Mazda 6. I thought when I saw a pic of them before, the hole that they fit in was a little different. I could be wrong

I ordered these knobs, same as in the box above, they say Mazda3 but they must have sent Mazda6 knobs as the shafts are too short and when pressed on, the knob circumference jams against the trim and wont turn.

If you read through this thread carefully, you'll see that what you want is the second one for the Mazda 3.

I understand that, but that is the link I ordered from and received the short shafted knobs.
So I'm trying to find a suitable replacement

Anyone have luck in changing the left knob's red colour to match that of the right knob's orange colour? I was thinking of using a coloured sharpie to paint/mark the shaft on the left knob.

Frankly, I don't understand why this bothers people. It's really not very far off in color and it's not like you spend a lot of time staring at it.

So I just purchased the knobs from this buyer on eBay; however, when receiving them they don't fit all all. If you look at the attachment below called Knob Comparisons, the smaller male part would go on the left side of the knob (which is the original stock knob) vs the one I purchased on eBay (on the right of the photo). Both knobs' indicators are facing up (they would be showing 12 o'clock). In the other photo called Knob on Car that is with the plastic suspension tabs removed and put on my car. If the original knob were on, it would be pointing to 0 for fan speed, but the new knob would only fit in this position (at 0 fan speed). This applies to all 3 knobs that came in the kit, everything is offset by 180 degrees. Any ideas on any fixes? Or did I purchase or receive the wrong knobs? Thanks for any help in advance.

So is there a reliable link to purchase these?
There's some posted here that's $50, then some $18 and $13.
Which one will work the best?

I did it a while ago, so don't remember if mine we're exactly the same as yours, but if you read back in this thread you'll see my posts stating the same, when lined up properly it is offset. You can force them on the "wrong way" though and line it up properly and it works fine that way. Hope this helps.

I just got the same set, knob is offset 180 degrees. I really doubt forcing it in would work. The thicker part is trying to go into the thinner part on the replacement knob. There's no way it would fit properly.

If anyone else comes across this thread like I did I just wanted to post that I did this, it took all of 3 minutes. Just snapped off the plastic clips on the inside like others and they fit and lined up perfectly. I ordered the ones someone linked from Amazon a page or so back. I do want to make the color of the temp knob match better.. still thinking up ways on how to do that. Will report back if I do.
