What have you done to your Miata today?

My exhaust has been gradually getting louder and louder over the last few weeks, and the last time I drove it something happened and it now sounds like a Spec Miata at WOT. I'm going to get under there and fix that today. :)

FINALLY got to an autox, the last of the year :(. I got five timed runs: 1:05.6, 1:02.6, 1:02.6 [lunch] 1:03.3. 1:02.6... Despite trying different directions through the optional slalom, changing tire pressures, adjusting my 1-2 shift point, and changing my line a little bit, I just couldn't get the car to go faster than 1:02.6. I think that this winter will finally see some aero mods, better wheels/tires, and maybe a ball-bearing turbo.

Did you try to quit f**kin' with it and just drive? :P

Lulz, fair question. I only tried changing things after I got my second 1:02.6 (after my 3rd run), while working the course I saw people trying different shift points and lines and so I took my last two runs to experiment. We were supposed to get 8 runs, but after some serious timing issues, and many re-runs, we got hacked down to 5.

Edit: on my 4th run I tried a slightly different entry to the slalom and delaying my shift to 2 until after a sharp turn at the very beginning of the course. On my last run I dropped tire pressure a little, mostly in the front, to try and get the front end to hook up a little more with the aforementioned changes. Nothing radical TBH.

The seatbelt extenders from CarbonMiata finally arrived. Shipping from China takes a while. ;)

The seatbelt extenders from CarbonMiata finally arrived. Shipping from China takes a while. ;)

I just ordered a set three days ago. It's amazing it take so long for them to ship (despite showing as being in stock). Hopefully they will be waiting for me when I get home in February.

Put a friend's 1990 and my Father-in-law's 1994 in my extra garage bay for winter storage.

Those seat belt extenders are cool. Best solution I've seen for that problem so far.

Changed all the fluids, detailed the car, change the wheels and tires to the storage set, and put itaway for the season along with the Rx-7.

Yesterday my interior door handle broke in two as I was attempting to get out of the car? It still locks and I can open the door from the outside so not quite sure what happened. Just ordered a new one from Planet Miata so it should be here within a couple of days. Attached a pic below. Today, I went to drive over to a satellite office and noticed my PS seat was soaked. The weather stripping at the front of the door was indented and looked pinched so it wasn't making a clean seal with the window. Pulled it down and noticed a slit so I stuffed some foam in there to help 'fill' it out. Just checked it a few minutes ago and seat is dry but now there are intermittent drips running down between the window and door.

I would hope they would be there by then! I placed my order in early October and given that they are coming from China and a small business I can't complain about the timeframe.

Put her away for the winter :(
I got to put a whopping 750 miles on her this year.... :(

That's ok, she'll be well rested for lots of abuse next season. :)

Those are purty. Curious to see what you think of them compared to your 13s.

Finally got my hands on a complete gauge cluster for a reasonable price. Besides just having some spare gauges lying around, I can now get a proper oil pressure gauge and install it using the mounting adapter I got. With the spare OPG I can send it along with the face off the aftermarket gauge to RevLimiter and have him make me a matching gauge face (for those of you who don't know, the 2000 SE gauge faces are a light beige color).

First time it's seen daylight in a while.

Put the hood on just to see how it looked covered up.

Dave said that since he had dimple dies, he might as well use 'em.
