so i have been tracking down boost leaks and issues with my car for about two weeks now. The first night i installed my front mount intercooler, after popping a couple couplers, I finally thought that i made my car run correctly. it boosted where it should be about 6.5psi, and it built boost fast, i would probably say by 4k if i was getting on it, however i did not note exactly where it would hit full boost. than the next day i had a boost leak, so I tightened all of my clamps a little, still no bueno. than i started doing boost leak tests, where i take a plastic bag and clamp it on the turbo intake and use a compressor to pressurize the intercooler piping. i found a few leaks and tightened them up and eliminated them accordingly. it than boosted to about 5psi but eventually the next day it was under 5, and it built boost slow. I could be at 6k in 1st gear and barely hit 5psi... than a pipe popped off because a clamp broke. while trying to replace the clamp 2 more broke so i got a bunch of new T-bolt clamps and tightened them all down. Tonight after tightening everything down i did another boost leak test, and no leaks. I added more pressure through the compressor, and it eventually popped off of the intake because of the pressure. no leaks to be seen heard or felt... i am kinda at a loss for words, dont really know why the hell it isn't boosting correctly and its really starting to annoy me. I am working on the car all day tomorrow so i HAVE TO FIX IT. tonight i also replaced a bunch of vaccum lines as well, thinking the old ones might be cracked... didnt help. please, if you have any insight, help a bro out...

here is how my vacuum lines are set up...

How many psi are you introducing into with system with the air compressor? I'm no expert, but I think your boost may vary from day to day with the temperature mayyyyyyyyybe?.?.?. Dunno about that slow ass spool though. Whatcha need with boost in !st gear?

check ur Blow off. what kind is it, what spring is in it? how did u run the piping? is it a new kit? what size couplers u used on the MAF and TB?

you need to redo your vacuum lines. give your wastegate and bov dedicated lines. Come and let us know if it does it then. i had like you have it now with 2 extra things coming off the wastegate line and my boost was low i swapped to dedicated lines and my boost went back up to normal.

ok first of all dont expect to see full boost on first gear cause it aint gonna happen because of the fact that the car isnt under that much load, third gear beyond is common for full boost so with that said check your wastegate might be going bad atp recommend, bpv, vaccum lines, and find out what the hell is going on with the couplers and clamps cause if boost is your problem then there should be no reason why they should be popping, breaking etc....unless you have a big hesitation to where you hear the turbo spooling but the car aint moving then i understand but other than that i dont see why it would do that but anyways check that stuff and see what turns up good luck....

If the wga is bad, you will over boost if anything because the diaphragms are prone to failing, not opening causing the turbo to boost higher. It sounds like he has a bad boost leak somewhere, or he has a faulty boost gauge and he is really seeing alot of boost.

it is a greddy type-s replica that i got with the ebay fmic kit. whatever the stock spring is in there. i have it on the cold pipe before the maf about 6-8 inches i would say. used 2.5 couplers just wrestled them on, and 2.75 t-bolt clamps. the I dont remember what size the TB one is but its the correct size.

how did you do the lines? i dont have a vacuum block yet, so how would i run dedicated lines? the BOV is the only line T-d into the brake booster.

yea i tested the wga its fine. tested for boost leaks multiple times, couldnt find any...

really? i could have sworn that i was seeing full boost in 1st gear not only on my msp but also on my first boosted protege... makes sense i guess. tested wga its fine, if anything it would be overboosting wouldnt it? none of the clamps are breaking now i replaced them with better ones. thanks man

not true, i see full boost in any gear with no problem!!!

ok. take the cap of the BOV (there should be 2 springs in there, take the bigger one out, i know mine is the same one)

1. also, for the wastegate, make sure you have no other connections t'd onto that line, you want the wga to have the most precise access to boost,
2. your boost gauge you can run off the little u-shaped line on top of the Intake mani
3. BOV --> use the same line that was hooked up to your BPV before, its directly to the right of the oil cap.
4. and the Meth kit u can run of the brake booster

thanks man i totally forgot about taking the bigger spring out, i had to do that on my old one as well. thanks for the quick vid too im gonna go look at it.
i made an appointment with revolutions performance, which is the best shop around here, for 3 dyno pulls with A/F and boost monitoring for diagnostic.

want to hear what happend, just my 2 cents but maybe the flap is stuck open on the wastegate thought Id through that out there and also I boost in all gears.

i took that spring out and now the BOV works amazingly, but still not getting the right amount of boost. i even took the wastegate vacuu, line off and still same boost so it must be a boost leak somewhere that i just keep missing.... i also just gave the wga a dedicated vacuum line and hooked the bov to the brake booster and the boost guage to the U shaped hose. same issue still....
any other ideas?????

maybe airfilter is clogged? one of the lines is cracked that you cant see? check to make sure the line connected to the intake manifold is not falling off

well i was just putting my 2 cents i dont wanna be presumed a liar for one and for those of you seing full boost in first gear ok cool but i was just saying cause i have my msp and a 04 srt and neither see full boost on first gear thier both on 50 trims my msp does around 4 or so in 1st,about 6 in second and full 8psi that i have it set at in third, my srt sees about 8-10 in first, 13-15 second and then 19-20 for full boost which i have it set at 20 psi and my car aint the only one ive been in a couple of my other friends cars with turbos and they dont see full boost either unless you have a boost by gear but guess (protest)

Wasn't calling u a liar. Maybe we have our cars set up differently but still i don't understand y u wouldn't be able to build full boost in low gears.

But yeah check the coupler on the intake Mani. Other than that I think its a cracked pipe or hole in the interfooler

Yea I think I am going to take the entire fmic off tomorrow, inspect everything, and put it all back. I think I may put some hairspray on the couplers to ensure a good seal too. I wanted to notch the bumper bar to mount it higher anyways

so i know that the wastegate diaphram held when i blew into it, but is there anyway that maybe the wastegate could get stuck open?
